Grace is when you have done all the wrong things, made all the wrong choices and are headed to hell. And when it is about to destroy you. That a stranger that you did not even know steps up from no were and pays the price for your mistakes and suffers your punishment, without asking you a thing in exchange.

That really is about the only way to understand grace. Jesus seeing us all on a path of total destruction stepped up on our behalf, offered himself for our punishment, that we could be free of the punishment of our actions in the age to come. They we who make him our Lord and savior, on the day of judgement would be presented before the Father without any record of sin. Jesus took our sin and suffered the pentalty of sin on our behalf, when we did not even know him.

So grace is the expression of love toward a unloving person to such a degree that it has cost you everything and them nothing.

To better help you understand grace here is a true story of Grace. A man that worked at a draw bridge. Had a only son, he was 8. At 3 each day the train would come thru the bridge. So he had to lower the bridge so they could pass thru. Well as it happened one summer the man and his son were playing the man loved little boy and spent every waking moment with him. This was a wonderful day they sun was high and he and the boy had played till noon and the boy ran home and eat some lunch. Well are 2:45 the man heard the train blow it usual horn telling him to lower the bridge. Then he heard a yell it was his son who had fallen into the gears of the bridge, the train was bearing down hard on the bridge. As he looked to the bridge all he could think of was his dear son. As he looked toward the train all he could think about was the 300 people and there families. With tears rolling down his he lowered the bridge killing his son. The people on the trained waved as they went buy. Each wave and each smiling face a crushing blow to his heart. Each face became and reminder of the cost of there safe ride. Each wheel that turned on that train seemed to crush his heart futher and futher. The man crying said if they only knew the cost, If they only knew the cost. Those 300 people never knew the cost of that grace.

My own story about grace is the same as above. I do not speak about it much. I to had a son whom i gave because of grace. If they only knew the cost, how great a cost!

Grace has two meanings. Conventionaly, grace is when you receive a reward that you do not deserve. In Christian theology (traditional, as per Maximos the Confessor, Gregory Palamas, Peter of Damascus, etc.) grace is the uncreated energy of God, which initiates and sustains change.

In Scirpture, grace is identified with the glory of God, which is itself described as light, energy, fire, smoke, darkness, or the presence of God. In the New Testament, the wicked are temporarily tormented by the grace/glory/presence of God until the resurrection of the dead at the end of the age.

Grace is God's Riches At Christ's Expense.

It is what God gives to those who believe in Jesus: no longer do God's followers have to live up to the perfect standards of the Law (God's legalistic rules), which is impossible, but rather they can live by grace, in a love relationship with God, in which they do their best to show their love for God but know that they are never condemned no matter how badly they fail, because Jesus paid the penalty for all our sin.

Grace also has a meaning of living life by the Holy Spirit's help, instead of living life solely by one's own self-efforts (by the carnal nature).

Grace is freedom and it is wonderful.

Grace is God's favor upon us. It is the fact that God doesn't see our sin when he looks at us, rather he sees the person and he Loves us. Grace is the fact that no matter how bad you fail in life you always have a home to go to.

Grace is forgiveness. In the context of "God's grace" it is undeserved, unmerited love that is given to us from God as a gift and not based on our deeds. It is a love that transcends the concepts of good and evil.
