Why does the Mormon church teach that there is no eternal hell when the Book of Mormon teaches that there is? (I Nephi 14:3, II Ne. 9:16;28: 21-23, Mosiah 3:25, Alma 34:35, Heleman 6:28 and 3:25,26).

Latter-day revelations speak of hell in at least two ways. First, it is another name for spirit prison, a temporary place in the postmortal world for those who died without a knowledge of the truth or those who were disobedient in mortality. Second, it is the permanent location of Satan and his followers and the sons of perdition, who are not redeemed by the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

This is one of the upsides of the morgbot religion: there's not really a hell of fire and brimstone, but a separation from god.

The top tier is the 'celestial kingdom' populated with those worthy temple recommend holders with multiple wives. Blacks might get to be there, but only as servants. You get to hang with god the father. There's a secret handshake to get in. Really.

The next step down is the 'terrestial kingdom' which is fill with all the other people who didn't become mormons, or only have one wife. Jesus visits occasionally. No special handshake is required.

The next level is the 'telestial kingdom' filled with all the drug dealers, rapists and murderers, or anyone who didn't accept Jesus or Joseph Smith's handshake. Only the Holy Ghost hangs with these guys.

Emmanual Swedenborg first suggested these three heavenly kingdoms (named the same way) after being visited by Jesus in the late 1700s, but mormons aren't allowed to read books except their 'quad', so they're unaware of the overt plagerism.

Finally there's "Outer Darkness', where heretics and apostates go, and those who 'deny the spirit'. Also people who discover the incredible fraud Smith was, and the idiocy of their core doctrine. This place will be ultra crowded with intellectuals, artists and librarians.

There's not a lot of incentive to be uber-good in the light of the eternal punishment options...

Peace

What you need to do is check out The Church of Latter Day Saints website and visit their nearest library. Talk to one of the elders/pastors/teachers or you can call the church up and have someone come to your home. Mormons are very nice people. All questions will be answered then.

It doesn't matter, there is no hell. But if you are a believer rest easy. Before the cranky old control freaks tossed most of the relevant writings out, Christianity taught that if one person prayed for you after you went to hell they let you out to go to heaven.

That hell wasn't scary enough for the psychos running religion though

That depends on what you mean by "eternal" and "hell".

Doctrine & Covenants 19: 4 And surely every man must repent or suffer, for I, God, am endless.
5 Wherefore, I revoke not the judgments which I shall pass, but woes shall go forth, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, yea, to those who are found on my left hand.
6 Nevertheless, it is not written that there shall be no end to this torment, but it is written endless torment.
7 Again, it is written eternal damnation; wherefore it is more express than other scriptures, that it might work upon the hearts of the children of men, altogether for my name’s glory.
8 Wherefore, I will explain unto you this mystery, for it is meet unto you to know even as mine apostles.
9 I speak unto you that are chosen in this thing, even as one, that you may enter into my rest.
10 For, behold, the mystery of godliness, how great is it! For, behold, I am endless, and the punishment which is given from my hand is endless punishment, for Endless is my name. Wherefore—
11 Eternal punishment is God’s punishment.
12 Endless punishment is God’s punishment.

Makes sense to me.

No Hell...? Well, that's right, isn't it?

As for why Mormons have screwed up ideas... Gosh, that's an easy one... it's because they're willing to take things on faith just like all the other believer do. Believers of all kinds like to show faith in things that are utter nonsense....

Go figure out why... and then take a look in the mirror and remind yourself to be reasonable and honest in all that you do. You'll thank yourself for it the rest of your life.

honestly I have little knowledge of what they teach, any religion that encourages more than one wife must be crazy. Can you imagine more than one wife. What man in his right mind could deal with that. Heck men can't even handle the flu.

Mormon!!! they are confuse. My friend do not read the book of mormon, it is false teaching. If you read the HOLY BIBLE, it said there in the REVALATION that there is HELL for those who do not believe in JESUS CHRIST. Read the NEW TESTAMENT and see thaa it says there that there is HELL.
