Sounds like you have a choice to make. I'd have a talk with your boyfriend if I were you, and explain to him how important the opportunity is to you, and that it's your job (if it is, or if you want it to be) and that it means nothing. It's just another task on your list of daily job requirements.

If that doesn't work, then you'll have to decide what's more important. Should you compromise and go for a different role so that you don't jeopardize your relationship? Should you stand firm in what you want in order to lay the groundwork for your future? There are no easy answers here, but this is something you are going to really have to think through, because if you plan on a life of acting, it WILL come up again.

But as a last resort, there's always the old high school stage kiss standby, which might work, depending on how intimate a space your theatre is. He cups your face between his hands, putting his thumbs over your lips, so that your lips never really meet. (Or switch and you do it to him.) But like I said, it depends on how small a space your theatre is to determine whether or not it would look at all believable, and it's up to your Director to give it the yay or nay.

Then your boyfriend is a moron. There is nothing behind a stage kiss unless you want there to be. And it's not as if it's your idea to put the kiss in there. Explain to him that you want the part for the part and if you have to kiss someone that your not being unfaithful. If he can't trust you enough to let you play the part that you want, he's too possessive. Plus, if you really love theatre and this is your passion, then this wouldn't even be a question,

Think of someone else. A good actor can convince an audience of anything.
