Any good bars in New York?

It's my 19th birthday on Saturday. I would like to go to a bar/lounge. Unfortunately, EVERYONE CARDS! Well, at least everone I can find. Can anyone suggest anything? This is what I'm looking for
-good dancing
-dim lighting and nice atmosphere
-not too crowded
-intimate

I don't want any large clubs. Something smal and intimate where I can hang with a couple of friends, listen to good music, and dance if I want to.

When I say New York, I'm talking about the Manhattan or Brooklyn area. Preferably Manhattan.
