if jesus was born specifically to die for our sins, he couldn't very well commit suicide because he would be guilty of that sin. so he had to put himself in a situation where he knew he would die, i.e. follow prophecy. what's the difference between that and assisted suicide?

Suicide is getting away from pain, but Jesus did the opposite. He walked into pain! Before his death he asked God why God had abandoned him to his fate. But then the Holy Spirit took him into her arms and Jesus asked that his family and followers not blame the soldiers or the accusers because they did not know what they were doing. At this point, Jesus is transformed and gives up his body as he begins his life as a Spirit.
The ultimate sacrifice is a transformation from being a human to being a Spirit that lives on. Jesus shows the way by being forgiving at a moment of his greatest pain and sacrifice. He walks the walk to show the way of forgiveness.
Christians are forgiving at the heart of their Faith. If they do otherwise, Jesus will forgive but not forget.

No Jesus' death wasn't an assisted suicide. Jesus was without sin. Jesus was the only son of God and he was born of a virgin and this is why he was without sin. Jesus loves us all and all though he went through alot of angish over what was ahead of him. He knew it was to be of God's will not his own. As I said earlier Jesus loves us all and that is the difference between that an assisted suicide. When someone decides to take their own life, they are not thinking of their loved ones. And while Jesus was dieing on the cross we were all on his mind. That is pure love.

The Romans ruled him to his death. If you can get a whole government and its people to hate you for no reason. Yeah sure that's assisted suicide. It took a lot more than putting himself in that type of situation for his death to occur, i.e. fulfilling the prophecies, and all of them were fulfilled. How can you say He put Himself in that type of situation? Yeah I would like to see someone commit suicide by nailing him or herself to a cross. Good luck with that one buddy.

If you say that just to follow the prophecy he placed Himself in a situation where He knew HE would die ... what would you like to say about when in His infancy He was carried to Egypt , again a fulfillment of Prophecy .
A man saw his brother coming with spots of blood on his shirt and sleeves he demands explanation for which the brother says in fit of rage he has killed a man he did not wanted to do but it happened , ow this man who dearly loved his brother took his shirt wore it and let him go inside ... so is the condition with us he died on our behalf ... wages of sin is death .

Jesus did'nt put himself in a situation, he simply followed what his father told him to do. So that everyone else could have everlasting life. If you read the Bible you would know the Old Testament is mainly about Jesus spreading the word of his father and doing as his father asked of him, your New Testament tells of how all these things his father "God" told him to spread the word about came true. God made the ultimate sacrifice giving his only son, so that we could all have everlasting life.

Huge differences . . . . unless you redefine assisted suicide. Second he did voluntarily die rather than to take away the free agency of those who demanded his death . . . this is what fulfills prophecy. He did have the power to save himself, but this would have voilated the prophecy and the fulfilment of sacrifice.

Jesus allowed himself to be murdered to save others, not unlike the one professor at Virginia Tech. did. People allow themselves to be murdered to save others all the time. It's called The Ultimate Sacrifice, and has nothing to do with suicide.

Well God knew and it was planned that a perfect sin free man must die, perfect blood, perfect sacrifice. It was the plan. After all the religious leader ultimately had a choice to kill or not to kill.

Far to much time on your hands to sit around and think up stuff like this! In a way I find this one a little amusing, but the intent of it is only to ridicule people you don't agree with. That is so sad and empty. I love you in Jesus all the same.
