I am really sick, but I have missed a lot lately.
My throat is really scratchy, and I'm very "stuffed up."
It also hurts really bad to cough.
My whole family has been sick lately, but how can I convince them to let me stay home? I really feel bad, and I haven't been able to sleep tonight.

You being sick should be their idea, not yours. Don't wait till tomorrow morning. This evening, get some stuff a sick person would get from the kitchen. Ginger ale, hot tea, crackers, soup. (If you have a headache, what would feel best? My guess is hot tea.) Don't tell your folks you're getting it, but make sure they catch you. If your folks think of it themselves, you don't have to convince them. Good luck.

I'm 61yrs old.
When young my mother would insist I went to school- what-ever I felt like.
Did it work?
No.
I didn't go to university as I hadn't liked school when I was sick.
Later at 32 yrs old - I chose to be a mature age student, my choice.
I loved it and would go even if I was sick.
What your parents do not realise is that it is YOUR life.
You will eventually make YOUR choices.
Try cold and flu tablets for cough etc. Find nice independant doctor to write you sick notes.
Don't wait as I stupidly did to stand up to your parents.

Your parents should know whether or not you are able to go to school. If you are really sick then the school nurse will call your parents and send you home. But if you are able to play on the computer than you should be just fine to go to school.

Call a friend to take notes in class for you and get your homework assignments. Perhaps if you show your parents that you value your education and aren't asking to stay home to skip out of class but because you are actually not feeling well, they may be more comfortable allowing you to rest.

You need to go to school.

Staying home to keep yourself well rested and not spreading the illness are great suggestions, but tomorrow is Friday and you have the weekend to rest up.

'Sides when you get older you will have to work sick, and in the rain, while being yelled at, and told your are worthless, you might as well live up the fine times of life being in school where life is simple.

Say I need a doctor, if they hear this they know you are serious. But you must see the doctor then from then on when you say this, they will know you are serious. That's what I do and it works, scary though that I always do turn out sick.

cry. don't get out of bed until your parents go to work. Put a wet cloth over your eyes like you got a bad headache.

breathe in and out, deep and slow, like it's difficult.

if that doesn't work, say you're having female trouble.

Basically, if you make an appointment with the doctor everyone will take you seriously, otherwise they may think you just want a vacation.
