You paraphrased and cut it short. Here is John 14.
Jesus said that He will prepare a special place for us then He will come back and receive us to that place and that time, we will know the place where we should go and how to go there.
Basically the answer to your questions are...
Where Jesus went? -> To heaven and to prepare a special place for us.
How can we know the way? -> Through Jesus... He is the WAY.
What did Jesus say back to Thomas? -> He simply said that Thomas had know him (Jesus) and Jesus himself knew Thomas... therefore... he will come back for Thomas and when he comes back... the way and the place to go will be revealed to Thomas.

I think he went to Pete's Diner, and all you have to do to get there is take a right at the next light, go two miles, and turn left at the flower shop.
Jesus probably said, "Dude, I'm going to the diner to grab some loaves and fishes. I'll get a takeout box and we can split it up back at my place."
I don't remember these words because I just made them up, obviously.
