It's an old inhalational anesthetic. It isn't quite that immediate, and it hasn't been used for ages in hospitals because of its unfortunate tendency to explode. Blowing up patients, not to mention surgical and nursing staff, seems to have been considered less than best form.

Yes. You see it on TV, but in reality, it's much more harmful. Just look at the name, with the "Chloro" prefix in it. Something to do with a chemical, right? Too much of it and you can either die or burn your skin. Bad stuff. Not a good way to lose consciousness. It even screws up your brain over a long period of time and repeated use.

Chloroform was used in the old days not put people out.
Has to be careful because it will burn the skin and too much will kill.

It can and if not removed can cause suffocation. Also the victim will be nauseated upon awakening. They never tell you that on TV.
