Most piercings usually close up without leaving scars. Some piercings can leave scars though, and sometimes if you gauge piercings, they don't close up completely.

I have had over 20 piercings in my 21 years of life including several in my ears, my belly button, my tongue, my hood (most people call it a clit piercing), and several other places.

I personally have scars on my ears (in the cartilage) and my tongue. I took out my hood piercing a few years ago and I didn't get a scar from it though.

And although I have never had my eyebrow pierced and never will, I have seen several people with scarred eyebrows from piercings.

Yes, they all close up, but some will stay open longer than others. Usually, the longer you've had it, the longer you can go without jewelry in it. But certain body parts do heal more quickly than others, regardless of how long the piercing's been there. Your nipples, for example, will heal up very quickly, but your ears and lip will last longer. If you want to keep a hole open without wearing the jewelry all the time, try only wearing it at night (after you've had it a while). Then, gradually decrease the amount of time you wear it. You'll still have to wear it regularly, but you'll be able to take it out when, say, your grandma visits or you have a job interview. Or any other occasion when you just don't feel like having it in. And yes, they'll almost always leave a scar. Not always that noticeable though. Most will diminish at least a little over time.

Not all close completely, it depends on how long you've had them and the condition they're in when you take them out.

A healthy piercing that closes up will leave a minor scar that most likely won't be noticable after about 6 months. If the piercing rejects, it can leave a much larger scar. If the piercing won't heal, the hole left by it will shrink, but will be more noticable than the scar.

yes they eventually close, but some quicker than others, i had my tongue ring out for 6 months and i was able to get it back in with ease. but it will live a little scar on the belly bottom, but its not noticeable on areas like the nipple and "down there"

I have a second piercing in one of my ears which I wore an earring in for a year or two and then stopped using (years ago.) It has never closed up.
