The best way is to measure out the food you will be feeding and split it up into 2 meals. If he's hungry throughout the day, split that into maybe 3 meals instead of 2. Although some dogs can do well on just 1 meal a day. Just make sure you're feeding an appropriate amount of food and the rest is up to you and the dog.

Oh my goodness...that is a LARGE rat terrier.
Please do make sure the dog is not fat. Rat terriers have a tendency to get fat. If you cannot feel the ribs, you have a problem. This is a side view of my JRT, your rat terrier should look VERY similar to this at the side view:

& this is my JRT at her 'winter weight' -- she will lose a few pounds before she is back at her 'ideal weight'!!
As for the question...you should feed two equal servings a day. Helps keep their metabolism running correctly, and keeps their pancreas healthy. DO NOT feed only once a day! That is bad for dogs and can be lethal to SMALL dogs!!

Depending on the age.. Very young puppy 4 small meals a day.. Young puppy, 3 meals a day.. Older puppy, 6 mos plus, you can switch to 2 meals a day.

I feed mine once about an hour after I get up and about an hour before I go to bed...I also give him treats as he goes outside to do his business. Animals are best on a schedule too! My dog(s) know when it's about time to eat!

twice a day; most dog foods have instructions on the containers. but in any case, even if you make it yourself, twice a day is fine, about 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups.

Depends on how much time you have. as many times in small meals is ideal. But reasonably
three times a day as a pup, twice a day as an adult.

It is healthiest for your dog to get two equal meals a day. Be very selective about what you give him -- ask your vet for recommendations.
Have fun!

If he's a puppy, three times a day. If he's an adult, twice. If he's a senior, twice or once.
Sorry, I misunderstood your question.
