the reason women didn't invented anything important 200 years ago is because they WERE NEVER given the chance. harriet tubman? florence nightingale? they were important but not because they invented anything. besides, if women did create anything important it wud have been thrown away a trash, and wouldn't even b consdered important enough 2 put it 2 the media

I think a person who is motivated can do anything they want to. I think that men with the view that a woman cannot do the same job with equal proficiency is foolish as that there are some men who are very weak and there are some women who are very very strong I had a friend who was a body builder and could lift 400 lbs and was built and I have seen some men who can't even lift their gilfriend. I think motivation has alot to do with what jobs and stations work and what ones doesnt and that a man putting limits on a woman as what she can and cannot do for work is sexist.

Certainly, women can do 'guy things'...but in many cases, they just can't do it as well. In the last couple of years, female golfers have forced themselves into PGA tour events...only to find themselves way behind the pack and missing the cut. Why? Because they just aren't as strong as the male golfers, and they can't hit the ball as far.
By the way, there are many examples of things that men are not as good at as women...and things they just can't do.
My question is...why do we all have to be able to do the same things, and just as well as the opposite sex? There is strength in diversity. The world is a better place when one sex focusses on one set of tasks, and the other focusses on the rest. We get so much more accomplished, and people are left to do that which they are best suited.

I agree with Rebel Yell.... if a job needs doing, I just do it. I once changed a tire in heels, because I was on the job and I had to do what needed to be done and get on with my day.
Changing a tire is only a "guy thing" if you are taught it is. I believe it as a car ownership thing. If you own and drive a car, its something you should be able to do.
I own a chain saw which I use seasonally to maintain my property. I cut limbs to a small enough size that I can lift or drag them away without help from anyone else.
BTW, I can watch football and drink beer at the same time, too! And no, I am not a lesbian. Married with 3 children.

This is more of an indivisual basis. While you have to admit that most women can't do alot of the physical feats men can, there are also alot who are capable of being athletic and strong (I can kick a guy's *** in sports).
Those women who obsess themselves with shoes, and buying clothes, and gossiping are the reason why so many men think lowly of women. Real women can broaden their interests than just that area.

Admittedly some women can lift a 180 pound man and fling him over her shoulder, but that is very rare. If she can't, however, she shouldn't be allowed to be a fireman...er firewoman. If a woman can't lift or pull her equipment at the end of the assembly line she shouldn't be allowed to work there and hold up all the men who are working for a production bonus.
Women might be able to do things, but should special accommodations be made for them just because they want to do a man's job and feel competent? No.
Men in the workplace consistently have to do more to make up for the woman's shortcomings. This is not only in jobs where there is heavy lifting, but also in jobs like engineering. I can't tell you the times my husband has had to stay late and take time away from HIS family because the woman at his company had to go home early because she has a sniffle, or she couldn't do her project by herself. (She's perpetually behind in engineering knowledge even though she has plenty of years in engineering.) Women should stick with things they're good at and quit trying to prove they are something they're not.

Men and women are built to do what they have to do. Sadly women to have babies, not to dig ditches, go to war. Imagine a woman in the trenches in Iraq, no sanitation and a period. If you have viewed any of my posts, I do not want to be a man. We are not equal, men have strength. There was a time in NYC when women wanted to be firefighters, yet they did not have the strength to carry down their victims. Woman have so many advantages in life, it a shame that women do not give their man their due. Respect men for what they are, and they will respect us for what we are. Believe me man and women are not created equal, not it is up to you to deside the you would wish to be, cauise baby we do not have a choice.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. Maybe only a few women can build a 747 or fight off the Taliban or run a Fortune 500 company, but they exist nonetheless.

OK..
Can women build the Panama Canal? Could women have built the trans American railway? what about underwater oil rigs? what about the pyramids? Can women design and construct those things without ANY male involvement????
If not.. THEN SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm tired of this stupid debate between men and women. Women have not even come close to neither understandin nor accepting male strengths.. males accept females strengths but sadly in a capitalist world.. women are all now trying to be male.. coz it pays better..
Nearly EVERY significant invention came from a MALE!!!!
Does that count for nothing in this modern day battle of the sexes???
and its not by accident either.. males have different brain funtions to females.. this is a scientific fact..
So NO I dont think females can ever acheive all the things males have, and future progress would likley stall if males were suddenly removed from senior roles and replaced by clueless females.

Write your name in the snow with your pee.
I'm all for equality in the workplace, in the home, socially, and everywhere else.
But we don't have to pretend we're exactly the same. We are different. Urinary function is just one example.
