St. Paul may or may not have had this gift. I think that Understanding is the gift where you have insight into a problem or a person that helps them.

You do need help, more than I'm qualified to offer. Paul was not known for being understanding. And he's dead, so he's not practicing anything right now.

Paul condemned homosexuality; Jesus did not.
Paul belittled women: Jesus did not.
Paul claimed he saw a hologram of Jesus; Jesus didn't have to claim weird things. Jesus' teachings were confirmed by the experience of the listener.

By quiet time alone to commune with God in heaven, and then "teaching" that which the Lord in heaven willed him to teach. Understanding comes through the word, and that word is of God in heaven.....

Read the Book of God. Try learning from every word and from every word you learn, strive harder to understand it. There are meanings beyond your first understanding that you may find if you will try to dig deepr into "whys" to every word you learn.
