Good lord, memories of my 3 year old brother, with his head half way open, and over 300 stitches just flashed through my head! My Brother was mauled by a timberwolf/alaskan malmute mix in 1993. My brother was just standing in front of a window when the dog pounced. I cannot believe you would want a wolf as a pet. The dog/wolf was 6 years old, and had never shown one single sign of aggression prior to this incedent. Please, think of others when you are considering purchasing a wolf! Not only can you be endangering yourself, but anyone who steps foot in your door!

You can not get a full blooded wolf anywhere in the united states, hybrids are illegal in some states. check state and local laws well before attempting to get a hybrid.
Another thing is even the hybrids take a ton of knowledge and experiance to raise and care for. they are extremely strong and weigh anywhere from 80-120 lbs. they are natural killers and never will be domestic per say.I would never adopt one even though I have alot of experiance with them, because i don't know their background. I don't know how they was treated, what may set them off and so on.eventhough i am experianced, and weigh around 240 they can even overpower me if they truely wanted. the only reason i never was attacked is because i never mistreated them, raised them since they was cubs, and had another person( usually dad) with me until i was sure they wouldn't hurt me, and even then i was cautious. my suggestion would be a german shepard, siberian husky, or alaskan malmute, the german shepard being the best choice. they are close to that size and much easier to handle, super smart and protective. many many years in the militay and law enforcement cant be wrong.
I know some of the above came across quite rude but I assure you the do it because they love animals and want the best for them and even you

If you want a 100% wolf, make sure the state you live in permits the ownership of a wolf as a domestic animal. If it is part wolf, part other kind of dog, you should be okay to adopt or purchase without restrictions. Check pet stores and animal breeders to see what is available.

Would-be wolf-owners might imagine themselves getting a wild kind of dog. But the vast majority of wolf owners find their wolves are untrainable, unpredictable as adults - and even menacing, especially near small animals and children. The wolf is the father of dogs, but cannot be treated just like a dog. Wolves are wild animals and geared to their last fibre to survive in the wild. Wild animals do not make good pets in people's homes. Wolves are not wild pet dogs.

Wolves are not suitable as domestic pets. You might be able to find a hybrid, but unless you do extensive research on the concept of owning a wolf hybrid, then I wouldn't recommend it. Also check for local laws that may permit you from owning a wolf.

Why would you want to do that!? What kind of experience do you have? You might want to do some research! Wolf's are WILD animals, not domestic pets! What are your motives?
If it's just because you think it would be cool! Then shame on you!
Try the black market, maybe you could get it from a poacher or someone who sells organs or something!
Sorry, but I don't like ignorance!

1st, WHY A WOLF? A dog won't make you happy? If you need a wolf, i suggest go to the woods and watch how they kill things. you can't teach a wolf to be docile... they may act it but eventually he will be a wolf... SILLY SILLY idea.
Do you plan on quitting your job to train it? if so maybe its a good challenge. Wolves don't care if they get punished they have a natural instict to be wild!!!!!!! So if your at work and they are home alone, even in a crate, youll turn it into a nut job and it will either hurt you ro someone, maybe even kill someone.... trust me this is a dumb dumb idea... get a hamster

Wolves are WILD animals and dangerous. Despite genetics, they are not dogs. One analogy I've seen: You wouldn't bring home a tiger or lion and expect it to behave like a domesticated house cat. Wolves and dogs are genetically the same species. Why would you want a wolf when you could have a dog?

are you talking about a wolf hybrid ? if so try looking on some web site for breeders, and if they dont have any available they my get you in touch with some who might.. there is a few people that brings theirs to the vet clinic that i work at and they seem like really good dogs, they have never been aggressive but be careful of the quality of pup you get,
