I have hooked DVD player to Receiver using 5.1 output terminals from DVD player to Receivers 5,1 input. I have tested all the speakers. When I play I can hear music or any other sound from the center except the main conversation dialog. Any suggestion how I can hear the dialog.

Since you are getting some sound from the center and not the correct sound (dialog) I would be quite surprised if the problem is not either an incorrect hook up from the DVD player to the receiver (since you are using the 6 separate audio cables), or a misplaced speaker wire (center speaker hooked into the wrong output of the receiver).

1. Check the connections - make sure all the cables are plugged into the right channels - Center to Center, etc.
2. Try different DVDs - the one you try might be deffected.
3. Check set-up menu of DVD. They vary frm player to player, but suually there is something like Speaker Set-up. There are usually 3 settings for each speaker - large, small and none. make sure all 6 speakers a represent.
4. Make sure 5.1 outputis enabled - if there is such option.
5. Make sure any kind of DSP processing is disabled in DVD (things like Hall, Arena, Etc). I suggest to do the same for the reciever.
5. Switch cables around - maybe cables are deffected.
6. Try connecting DVD via digital output. If the same problem - check Speaker Settings in the reciever (same as p.2 for DVD). If it work fine via digital cable - go back to p.1.
7. If all fails - contact the manufacturer or your reseller. You equipment is malfunctioning.

Hi. I would check your speaker connections again to be sure they are correct. Are you hearing any dialog coming from your 2 front stereo speakers or any other speakers. Is the center speaker volume as high as the other speakers.Check that the DVD is connected to the receiver correctly. I can't think of anything else to check but some one else might have more info. for you.

Cheers
