Why are some of the dumbest questions on here asked by them?

Like: What if Joseph insisted that mary get an abortion?
Was Jesus gay?
Would God want me to kill my child?

This is why alot of people, OK mainly Christians, wont take them seriously. They ask stupid questions just for attention. Boring lives I guess.

If your not one of the smart allacks, then this question isnt directed at you.

I spelled it wrong because I am not one. Of course you would know how to spell it if that was your only claim to fame.

Thanks to the atheists who just showed me how right I am. HA HA I just love being proved right.

Actually the "monkey" question you keep referring to, makes perfect sense to Christians. If we came from monkeys, how is it that scientists have NEVER found that one final link to prove their theory? And you cant say they have, because no they have not. I see nothing wrong with that question. The stupid questions that are asked by so many Atheists, usually have some sexual content, involve rediculous situations, and were basically asked, as another person already said, just to get attention, probably because they are bored. They can't possibly think they are going to get any good answers, expect equally as smart alec as the person asking the question.

I believe Atheists (and others) just want to try and give others something to think about. I however agree some are stupid questions.

Every one believes in their own "religion". I am a Christian, and proud of it. I believe everyone has a right to their opinion, whether I agree or disagree. It is our ability to choose what we believe that makes this country great (Along with many other rights we have and our Freedom).

I however see no need to put others down for their believes. It is one thing to post a questions to get others thinking, and another to just sound like a smart alec.

I know this question is not directed at me but in all fairness should you assume that the person or persons being the smart alec/s an atheist/s? In short rudeness is rudeness not matter what their spirtual beliefs are or not and no group can claim they plant the seeds of Tolerance toward other groups only individuals can do that.

There are people on here of all faiths that ask smart-alec questions. You should read some of the things that some Christians ask on here!
Just ignore the people that ask questions like that.

Why aren't so few of the atheists on here such smart alecks?

When confronted with an irrationality, some feel the need to pose hypothetical questions to demonstrate the absurdity of the irrationality.

Or, consider this:

The atheists are curious about what you believe. They want to know more about what you believe to be the ultimate truth. Why not educate them a little, why not do what you would consider a favor to them?

smart Alec

A person regarded as obnoxiously self-assertive. An impudent person.

According to G.L. Cohen, author of Studies in Slang Part 1 (1985), the phrase smart alec(k) arose from the exploits of Alec Hoag. A celebrated pimp, thief, and confidence man operating out of New York City in the 1840s, Mr. Hoag, along with his wife Melinda and an accomplice known as "French Jack," operated a con called the "panel game," a method by which prostitutes and their pimps robbed foolish customers.

Why are you offended? Their ( Not an atheist) questions are just as stupid as any religion in general. Why does someone need some crazy fairytale stories to believe in a superior power?

2007-04-19 16:22:03 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 4 1

Because they are poking fun at something that is even more stupid than their inane questions, and that is religion and this idiotic belief in god fantasies.

Sometimes the title of their question is designed to be somewhat offensive to get your attention so you'll read and answer the question, just like the title for your question.

You spelled things wrong because you aren't one of those.

I see .... but you do act that way.

Smart Alec : An upstart who makes conceited, sardonic, insolent comments

You wrote 'the atheists' instead of 'some atheists'. Just thought I'd let you know.

And it's "smart alecs" or "smart allecs" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Alec )

Oh, and "a lot" is two words.
