Yes I have, not since I was much much younger. People who behave this way are immature, and are not worthy of our time or friend ship.
The only exception to this rule, is young attractive women, who if they are prepared to have sex with you outside of their other friends, it is perfectly acceptable to have them as convenient or proximity friends.

I think everyone, to some extent, has friends like that. You may not think so, and you may not think of yourself as a friend like that, but it's likely you are.
For example, I graduated from college last May. I had a lot of friends there. Now, almost a year later, I have a small, close group that I talk to often and visit whenever possible. I have a larger group that I still talk to once in awhile, and visit if we both end up in the same place at the same time. And then there are a lot of peopel who were "friends" who I rarely or don't keep in touch with. It doesn't make me a bad person and it doesn't mean they were bad people; it just means that when we were living in the same place, taking the same classes, we enjoyed each other's company, it was *convenient* to hang out, but now that it's not, we don't.
I guess the situation depends on whether or not the two friends in question share the same feeling on the matter. If you think of these people as really close friends, people you would go out of your way to help if they needed it, and they simply think of you as a convenience friend, then it doesn't work. And, if this is the case, I suggest looking for some new friends. They're not easy to find (trust me, I know), but they're the ones who will really be there for you and bring you happiness in the end.

I like to refer to them as friendly acquaintances. They are around just long enough to see if they can get something from me. A job referral, a cup of sugar, a chance to meet that handsome or good looking friend of mine. I have three close friends and then the circle stretches further out and the connection is a bit weaker.
I think we have all come across this type of friend.

Oh, most certainly, although I guess it's a bit of a misnomer to call them friends, isn't it?
I have had friends who would take advantage of me, spend my money on things for themselves (I gave the money so that's not the issue) and then abuse me when I was unable to be at their beckoned call later.
I think we all have 'Users' like this attach to us, especially if we have a trusting or generally good nature. The trick, fo me, is identifying them and not allowing them to have their desired influence over you, and that includes any anger you may have towards them.

Yes, they are also known as fair weather friends, good-time buddies. It is uncomfortable to discover that people you regard as friends would not lift a finger if you were on your back. On the other hand it is a good thing when you make that discovery, because you life can only get better without them. I call it a house cleaning. http://www.JohnIwaniec.com

Oh sure. I don't think that's a bad thing per se. As long as you have a few "anytime, anywhere, for any reason" friends, it's no big deal to have fair-weather friends too.
