I think that watching any type of baby show like Barney, or Baby Einstiens, for example is okay. It stimulates their eyes, by different flashy colors, and things like that. An hour a day is the perfect amount of time. I would suggest not to allow her to watch more, especially at this age, because that would become a habit, and then you'll have to pry her away from the t.v. Same as video games. Give her time to play outside everyday, at least an hour. This way she is aquainted to playing and exercise, and in the future she'll probably like the outdoors more, which will prevent her more from becoming obese. Those statistics are really breath taking! ~Maricella Below is a website on obese children, and how different things, such as bad food, or no exersice can leave any child to the ladder of obesity.

It's fine to let her a lot of these children shows teach children a lot of what they know. They learn to play with other and share..they also learn important life lessons through these shows...I say let her be a kid and love Barney. The only ones not to let them watch are the ones where they use make up words or speak gibberish those tend to set children back to infant times when the spoke that way.

I think Barney is fun to watch...I even watched him with my daughter when she was around 2 - 3 yrs old.She learned a lot of songs and I believe she learned to dance because of Barney. Not as educational as I would"ve liked but very entertaining and the shows teach values.Try to watch Baby Einstein and Little Einstein, too!

As much as I dislike giant dancing singing purple dinosaurs, dancing and singing along would actually be good for her coordination and balance, and memory for that matter. Just don't let her watch HOURS of it! Of course I would suggest doing that kind of fun stuff with her yourself - kids love rhymes and interactive games (the clapping things and things that get them moving). I understand keeping up with kids takes a lot of energy though! Just make sure you're the parent, and that the TV isn't.

Starfish,
I like Barney, and my kids love him. I see nothing wrong with a two year old watching him. He does have some very hip songs and dances. Basically I think Barney ROCKS! (for two year olds).

Of course it is ok. They learn songs, ABC, manners, etc with Barney.

We took the kids to Universal Studios in Florida and Barney was there and did a show and you can take pictures afterwards. My kids LOVED it.

Let that baby watch barney. You'll find yourself singing "I love you" even when your daughter isn't with you.

I raised 2 girls on Barney and Sesame St
and I think they are some of the better influences on children

Sure. Then when she turns like 3 or 4 (or even now) take her to Universal Studios in Orlando and let her go to the Barney exhibit. IT was the best in my opinion. My 5 year old loved it! Heck, I loved it. Trust me...it's cool. Learn your lesson now with your child. Expose them to everything, allow them to make choices based upon their likes and dislikes. This is social development. Do not mold your child to be what you want them to be. This child is soooo innocent. Not to mention, if you don't expose it to them at home, they will get it out in the streets....to make a long story short. Stay in the know with your child. Your child is only 2. It isn't like it's exrated or something.
