I'm really tired and starting to lose patience, I will admit.

It's obvious what this country is based on.
It's obvious what religion has had the most success in leading to free societies.
It's obvious which religious followers are the most humble and giving.

So, those of you who insist on continuing to hold out. Have you ever even tried to read the bible?

I know, I know. Someone was mean to you in church back in 1997. Yeah, we get it. Grr. grr. grr. Angst all over, grr, angst. Yeah....put on that black eye liner and nail polish! You rebel you!

Still makes no difference. There is only one book of truth, and that's the bible. NO matter what you think.

So, have you read it? You will one day, one way or another. Hopefully, it's not in heaven's court. There, you will have the charges brought before you by Jesus. Will you be able to answer him?

There are alos kids bibles with pictures, if the grown up version is a little above your head.

I've read it. Cover to cover several times. Understood it easily (KJV, not the new translations- they're a little simplistic aren't they?) Gotta say- I'm not impressed. Cover to cover contradictions. Like in Revelations, how it says it's an unforgivable sin to change the bible, but then if you compare the KJV w/the original it's almost not even The same book. I really think the whole thing was written by a group of masochistic paranoid delusional schizophrenics. Cant you just see Jesus up there reading it over, thinking "Hey! I didn't say that! Why those little..."

The Bible is not unique in its description of people who lived for hundreds or thousands of years. Other ancient literature contain the same claims. If the biblical account of creation is true (chapters 1 and 2) and if the rainbow after the flood was the first rainbow, then we can assume that the environmental conditions prior to the flood were significantly different than they are now. It's possible there was continuous cloud cover -- no UV radiation would be one effect. That would extend lives. You also had pretty pure DNA with no abnormalities being passed along. So it's possible. You just have to get yourself into the mindset of a biblical worldview.

I personally try to read the gospels primarily and then the rest of the new testament because in doing so, you begin to understand salvation history through Jesus Christ and the Church he established through the advise of the first Bishop's, Peter, Paul, James, etc.

After reading the new testament I anticipate reading the old testament more thoroghly to understand hwo salvation came from the sin of Adam and Eve and how others like Abraham, Moses, Issaiah, all played there part into what lead up to the new testament.

liar hee hee the bible is not the only book of truth, you think god only gave his word to you??? what about the jew and the muslims, they both also claim that their holy book is god's too. what about that? it just so happens that the bible is not true. yes it is not. it has been changed and corrupted by the early scholars. They changed the words to make it EASIER for the new people converting. and they added things, so that makes it UNTRUE it is no longer the word of god. it has been corrupted, changed, different from the original, what about the old and new testament, they both go different ways, you cant follow both because eventually they would cross over, and nothing would make sense. Hebrews too, their torah has been changed by the people, and guess which book that leaves??? THE QURAN has been revealed to the blessed prophet muhammad peace be upon him in 700 A.D.ish and until now it has remained pure and nothing, not even a letter has been changed, making it the original, not some messed up version of god's word revealed to the blessed prophet jesus. yes i agree that the bible was, at one time correct, but it is literally impossible since stories have been retold and changed. so no, i know that the bible is not god's word, therfore i will not read it , i will read it however, if i was comparing it to the quran so....in general......the bible lies

I was just reading it earlier tonight, the parables in Matthew. When I read it (KJV) I usually just open to a random page; the readings are enjoyable throughout (but I do have a preferance for both Matthew and Romans).

I am Christian but whether you are Christian, Jew, pagan, theist, athiest, agostic (you get the picture) or not any educated person should read the Bible. There are so many references to it in the common lexicon and literature that not to read leaves one looking poorly educated or poorly read.

"It's obvious which religious followers are the most humble and giving." He said humbly...

Yes, I've read it. Including all the parts that make no sense. The contradictions. The parts where God kills children. The parts where God kills and/or tortures honorable men. The parts that condone slavery. The parts that are anti-women.

"There, you will have the charges brought before you by Jesus."

I didn't realize that Jesus was a prosecuting attorney or a policeman.

Yes, as a matter of fact...it is a classic piece of literature...However, you reference it as the "only" truth, which it is not...all writing, all artistry, is just as "inspired"...read more for Self...seek more & you will find more...it's there for you to do so.

To negate the Godhead to a single source of writings is not only preposterous, it reflects limitation, favoritism, and lack of growth...none of which reflects the Love of the Creators...please think deeper on this.

Yes, the Bible holds many parts of the truth, as well as it does not...and as all things, we are all given the great gift of inner voice...direct-connect...to choose what makes our souls sing while leaving the rest as is.

The one point that shows your own limitations is that you assume one religious faction as the only one...does this make sense given the facts that God's love is unconditional (look that up in the Bible or the dictionary), and meant for all his beings, not just you & yours? Again...deeper thinking, please.

God simply does not, nor ever has, lived under human rules, commandments, or what-have-yous of Earth life, nor has He ever deemed these upon his children...we were given the ability to create them on our own...at the same time, we have the same ability to change them, as we grow in wisdom.

I wish you Good Journey...seek & you will find...life is much more wonderous than you yet know.

Hierachy and anarchy need each other in order to exist. The guilt-based culture of hierarchy (I'm talking priests of mythology here, like Hollywood honchos and any religious people who make stuff up for big money) needs to pay somebody to feel better about itself. The shame-based culture of anarchy needs to cover itself up to feel better about itself. Hence it is funded by the hierachy to purchase archetypal clothes so that the hierarchy can justify its invoicing for its own nosy-business ways as labour costs.

Are you a paid employee of the system? Or an employer? Does your church ask for money? It shouldn't have to. (Acts 4:32-37)

Yes, I agree with reading the Bible. Prayer is essential too.

It appears you've only read a bit of the bible, only the New Testament. I recommend you go back and read the Old Testament, then come back and tell me what u think.
