True Christians recognize the necessity of money. In fact the Bible says that money is "for a protection" (Ecclesiastes 7:12) However, proper balance must be maintained. Satan insidiously deceives us into thinking we "need" much more than we really do and thus causes us to become 'slaves' to riches. Becoming so consumed in the obtaining of money, that our worship of God is neglected. That is why Matthew 6:24 says that no one can slave for 2 masters. When money is our master, it is really Satan who becomes our master. Satan's world offers riches and other desirables, but Satan always ask something back just as he did when he offered Jesus All the Kingdoms of the world and their glory. In exchange Satan wanted one act of worship. (Matthew 4:8-9) Satan certainly asks something from us in exchange for the riches of this world.

would I (a Hindu) answer. Christianity tries to mildew human beings right into a unified college of concept. It tries to tension a unmarried good judgment and faith to all of us. The Human race is eye-catching for this is selection. No 2 human beings are comparable. Any independant guy or woman will question the best judgment of the Church and ask questions which the Church can't answer different then quoting Verse X, financial ruin Y of the Bible. And while the independant innovations unearths out that the Earth isn't flat and refuses to have self assurance that we are all made of incest .. he questions the e book. it somewhat is while they separate and he will become an Atheist. Christianity does not tolerate distinction - as a results of fact they say they're the only reality. Hindu attitude: think of reality to be an elephant and each thing is darkish. Christian is keeping the leg - thinks reality is style of a tree trunk. Buddhist is keeping the trunk - thinks reality is style of a huge snake. Jews carry the tail and think of it somewhat is style of a small snake. Sikhs carry the tummy and think of this is like a huge umbrella. distinctive Hindus carry distinctive factors and argue among themselves. The Atheist stands at a distance and says there is not something to hold. the fact is that none of them are excellent and all of them are excellent. combating for peace (faith) is like fcuking for virginity.

Look at things in a practical manner before looking at the scriptures that confirm it. Can you follow two religions? Can you worship two different gods? It's not really possible. Someone can create a god out of anything --that includes money. If my main focus in life is to gain wealth, then how can my main goal also be to please and follow God? It's just not logical.

Matthew 6:24 states the following:

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

You cannot serve two things equally. If someone if is a relationship and decides to cheat on their spouse or significant other, they cannot possibly have an equal relationship with both people. They will forsake one for the other. It is the same with the relationship that someone has with God or with money. They will forsake one for the other. One must choose which is more important to seek after.

Nope. Can't be done. " Either he will love the one and hate the other or hate the one and love the other." (Aprx.)
Also, Jesus instructed with the parable of the "rich man having an easier time of it passing through the eye of a needle, before he could hope of entering the kingdom of God."
Money isn't bad. It's "the love of money that is the root of evil." This envolves balance: very difficult for the vast majority of folks. Wealth is alluring; with a potential of desiring more and more than what one ACTUALLY needs. The Apostle Paul admonished being content with daily needs of food and covering, and he lead by example, being a tent - maker when he was a learned scholar with considerable status and potential for greatness among the Jewish high court of his day.
He achieved greatness alright. But this came from God Almighty, Himself. He was tremendously blessed with the awsome privilages of expanding true worship far beyond Isreal and as far as Spain; as well as being recognized for being the most prolific writer of the Greek scriptures!

No, because Jesus said that no one could serve both God and money. A Christian can certainly work hard and seek to earn a lot of money but they have to have a godly perspective when it comes to their finances. If they want to earn a lot because they want to give a lot to God's Kingdom work here on earth then that's one thing. But if they want to earn a lot so that they don't have to depend upon God and so that they can spend it all on a luxurious lifestyle then they are the modern day equivalent of an idolater.

Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

I don't consider myself a slave for God...it seems to me a slave is one who is forced and God don't force...as for riches, you came into this world with nothing and you can't take nothing with you when you leave this world. I pick God over any riches in this world. I will have much when I leave this world and will never be in the need of anything...God is all the riches I will ever need..God Bless

The bible is very clear on this...see Matthew 6:24: "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

We are told in the Bible that we are to lay up "riches" in Heaven.

So by slaving for God we do lay up riches but they will be ours for eternity in Heaven and can not be used up in a short time like money or thing here on earth.

Matthew 6:23-25 (King James Version)
23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
.
if you strive for GOD you naturally despise riches...if you strive for money you naturally hate GOD.
