It depends on what you are up to. If you are trying to be loving towards yourself and others then I would suggest choosing A. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

B would be almost impossible and very time consuming since you would always be trying to figure out what they would want you to be doing unto them.

A. works well, but I notice often that people are doing unto others as they have been done to, especially when it comes to getting even.

God already has things set up so simple for us in what works and yet most try it their way and make things worse. Some day maybe we will all finally get it, and corporate more. Then we can have total world peace! :)

B.

Isn't there The Silver Rule as well? Do not do unto others that which you would not want done to you?

C. Do unto other as you would have them do unto you, because whatever you do will come back and bite you in the butt!

That covers philosophies from at least three religions...

Definately, "A", since you only have control of Self, you cannot assume another's wants.

Now if someone asked you to do unto them, this is not a rule, it is a request...you have the choice of providing that or not...See???

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I wouldn't to be poked, punched or ridiculed, I don't think others would either.

You can't know what they would want you to do unto them.

A. Treat others as you would want to be treated.

This is also assuming that you are of a sane mind and not some masochistic freak or having some other sort of defect!

better wording...imo.

Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you.

you can't know what they would want you to do, and you can't neccesarily trust what they say, or don't say, so B is invalid IMO.
