Ok, I got my first tattoo yesturday. I got a western style bull skull because I'm into country music and all that....well anyway, I was surprised about how much it didn't hurt at all and I actually love the feelin'! I'm 17 and I'm already wantin' a 2nd tattoo, you think I should stop at just this one before I end up covered? People are right, you get the first one and your addicted, but I don't want to be covered.

My dad signed a form to let me get the tattoo. You have to be 18 unless your parents sign a forum.

good for you!!! there are some people who say it doesn't hurt. all of mine hurt to varying degrees. i say go for more tattoos but just make sure they are worth the skin that you are putting them on. so many times young people (including myself at one time) get tattoos that suit them at the time and later realize that the tattoo they got was not at all something that reflected them as a person but rather the stage of life they were going thru. i love tattoos and see myself getting them for the rest of my life...
please be a responsible collector and take care of your tattoo. keep it out of the sun!!!!
congratulations!

In my state, Washington, you have to be 18 legally no matter what. I think it's a good law because that one year is much more mature. Just don't get one all the time because you like it. Think about it for a LONG time, and then talk to an artist and think some more. It will help prevent you from regretting a "shot gun" decision. I got my first one on Good Friday and I'm 18. I want a second one too, and third and maybe more but I'm going to take my time. And they most defiantly are addicting. Let yours heal and just get used to it and then think about what you might want and give it as much time as you can so that you are 100% sure.

I turned 31 on March 10th and got my first tattoo. It was a pic that I've drawn on my own skin for 16 years. My wife got tired of me talking about doing it all the time, so she hooked it up for my birthday. I tell you this because mine hurt, bad. But, that doesn't mean that I don't want another. Like you, I don't want to end up covered. So, here's my advice, WAIT. At least a couple of months. I am. Also, think about the fact that your future job might not like the idea of lots of public tattoos, so always get the early ones where you can keep them covered. That's my plan. Good luck, and enjoy the ink.

I would wait for a little bit just so you dont get all tattoo happy. I got my one and only tatoo, and sure it didnt really hurt and a new one might be cool, but the one I have is very special to me. The way I see it, other tattoos detract from the significance of my current one. If your tatoo has no real meaning and is just for looks, I would consider how distracting the other ones would be. If you get too many it will be hard to identify any single one and they will all look far worse then the single.

where did you get a tattoo at age 17? most places wont even let you in the door past a certain point if your under 18....but that aside, if you are going to get more, space them out, and think about them for a good long time. i have a friend who got like, 9 tattoos in 5 months and they all look like **** because she never actually went to a good artist. and she still wants to get more. so think about it long and hard. i have two, but they were a year apart, and i probably wont get another one for a while yet.

yes, they are very addicting. after my first one i went back a month later and got two more on the same day.
i wouldn't necessarily say that you have to stop right now--you know your limits-you say you don't want to be covered, so don't be. you'll stop when you feel like you're "covered" enough. i have 7 already, and i want more, but i have them all planned out. i'm keeping my hands, arms, face, etc. untattooed (for job reasons). as addicted as i am to my tattoos, i know that i won't get so "addicted" that i end up changing my mind about tattooing those areas.
hope that makes sense.

totally know what you mean. before i had my first one i said i only ever wanted one. now i have about 5 and want to keep going. just make sure you keep your body looking classy. take alot of thought into the design of the tat, get something with meaning that you will always relate to and make sure you never go get one drunk. 98% chance of regretting it.
i also know what you mean about enjoying the feeling. try getting one on your feet. the feeling is much different.

If your in doubt then don't do it. I know how it is I got my first one in March and I've been wanting to get another ever since. But I want to wait and make sure I don't get one just to get one, I want my next one to have as much meaning as my first one.
