try this very simple thing I do most of the times...
Whenever you feel like you want to eat a cake or other junk food which you cannot resist... just remind yourself that 'you will eat it' BUT after a while.... just keep reminding yourself that 'YOU WILL' eat it eventually...
After a while when you would've delayed giving in to your temptation its hold on you will weaken....
You won't feel like eating it anyway!
Do your victory dance then... you won!

Normally what I do, is when I really want something, like cake, I ask myself how much I want it and if anything else will satisfy my craving. Usually I'll try to eat something healthier and pre-occupy myself, if that doesn't work and I decide anfter some time (never on impulse) that I NEED it, I will serve myself a teeny little bit of it, a bit or two, and put the rest away. I will take my food to the other room and site down to enjoy my couple of bites. then when finished, I wash my dish and move on. By not eating it out of the container, and not eating it even in the kitchen area, it helps me to not eat more than I really want to, so that I dont feel bad later.
Anyway, thats just what helps me.

- sew your month shut with catgut - ask a family member to pour a bottle of tabasco on everything you are likely to eat (unless, like me, you love tabasco sauce). Mercaptan probably even more effective. - ask somebody to put mousetraps in chips bags - install a rope tied to a water bucket next to the freezer where you stash the ice cream. Next to the rope put a big red 'DO NOT PULL THE ROPE' sign (i find that most people _WILL_do it if it tells you not to). - etc... There are many ways, use your imagination. Best is to just develop your strong will and shield against it though. This can take time... took me over 30 years myself but I've been lazy. In the past 2 years I went from 183 to 151 pounds (5'6'', man) just by eating a bit less than usual. Target 80-90% what you usually take in for a meal, this is not too difficult and in the long run is very effective. I used to eat too much most of the time with my stomach bulging out and all, but not anymore (with occasional exceptions of course maybe once or twice a month but not all the time). Results may vary.

This works for me, always have fruits. Fruits contain lots of water and will fill you up right away. If you have some cravings for sweets, eat fruits instead. I think this will lower your cravings. If you still have some cravings, just eat a tiny slice of cake (or any sweets) and drink lots of water. The key is to fill-up your stomach and satisfy your body with the carbs coming from fruits. Think healthy and eat healthy :) .

Weene yourself off of them. Every other day try to not eat desert type foods. Then the next day try to not eat any fried foods. Then choose one day out of the week to not eat any junk food. After a while make it two days in a row that you don't eat junk food. And so forth and so forth.
Or you can do like me and stop cold turkey and pray to God to hold you back from the junk food.

By eating at least 6 (or sometimes 7) times per day, I am too full to be tempted by anything. It also keeps my metabolism up and allows me to maintain less than 5% body fat for the past 22 years.

Don't have it in the house to begin with. Order it as a treat when you go out to dinner. You don't need to completely deprive yourself, but have some control over the situation.
