I was reading a article that I saved under my favorites on my computer because I found it rather interesting. It states in the article that anyone can learn how to sing and be a good singer by learning the fundamentals of singing. It says to become a great singer you have to add dynamics and a style that's all your own. Now, I hear different singers all the time. How do you find a style that you know you like when you are looking for a style. Every Pop star, Every RandB artist, none of their styles are the same even though they fall under the same category of music. How do you look for a style? Also what is Dynamics and what do they mean by this word as terms of singing?

Singing Dynamics

OK, you've got one good definition for dynamics. Now for style.

You come up with your own style by:

1) Good fundamentals. Learn proper breath control and voice production. People who don't start out properly with breathing and vocalization are likely to damage the larynx--and then there's no good singing and therefore no chance for style.

2) Practice. Experience. Sing as often as you can, in any context that brings you pleasure. Join a church or community choir; audition for musicals; enter contests (if you don't mind losing a few). As you gain experience, you become more familiar with what your own voice can do. Also, record yourself singing and critique yourself (but not harshly: look for your strengths and search for ideas about what you do when you sound best).

3) Listen to and model other vocalists who are similar to yourself in vocal tone and range.

I once overheard an art teacher who was chewing out a student who wasn't producing enough work, and what he said made sense to me: don't wait for inspiration to come and then start creating; create first, and inspiration will come through the work. The same thing applies to music; eventually you find your own unique voice and style, and if your fundamentals are good, you'll have reached your goal.

while it is true that anyone who puts in the effort can be a good singer, learning how to sing is like learning an instrument, its a skill that you MUST first and foremost learn and master, event he very best in the industry practiced everyday to be good, so my suggestion as to the first step is to get a singing teacher and practice!

style and individual interpretation comes after you actually learn how to sing, once you learn the rules you can break some if that makes sense, in my personal experience my personal style seemed to be a hybrid of some of my musical influences...but it differs from person to person, with experience you will find what works for your voice and what doesnt and what makes you unique

dynamics is how much "colour" you have in your voice, the different shades that make your voice interesting, otherwise it would be pretty boring to listen to someone who sounds monotone all the time.
