Al Gonzales, should he be a poster boy for why you shouldn't smoke pot? He looks stoned and he can't recall sh*t.

Does Bush think he's doing a heckuva job?

thequeen - good answer. I was just poking fun at Gonzales, therefore, I was looking for a humorous comeback. Thanks anyway for your thoughtful response.

Bush stands by him 100%. According to the Deputy Press Secretary in this evening's press release, the president supposedly expressed pleasure in the way that Gone-zales handled himself in the hearing today
The statement highlighted one glaring thing- there was no way in hell Bush could have heard any part of that testimony. If he did and still came to that conclusion, we as a nation are really screwed because this country is being run by the inmates from the asylum.
This man who is supposed to be the "top" cop in the country, the person in charge of the DEA, ATF yadda yadda yadda took last week to "practice" for this hearing. His performance really made me think something is mentally defective there. I guess his cohorts who helped him rehearse did not think of the questions that the Congressmen would have asked so he practiced from the wrong "cheat" sheet and practiced the wrong lies. So as a result we had 74 " i do not recall"
As it stands right now, Gonzales could probably be charged with perjury.
When he was on the hill in Jan, he swore under oath that he knew nothing about the firings. He also swore that the new US attorney nominees would be presented to Congress for vetting. Then along came the emails. The ones that showed he knew about the firings and that he knew the law had been changed to allow them to appoint US attorneys without getting approval from the Senate. why did he lie about that? Only he knows. I think it is because of one of the appointees. The Karl Rove protege. He claimed he had prosecuted 40 cases. He is 33 years old. Come to find out he NEVER prosecuted one case, he assisted in 3 all of which were plea deals. Most if not all of the replacements that they hoped to have placed came from one very interesting source.- Pat Robertson's university. go figure
He was given an opportunity to save himself by clearing up the discrepancies. From what I saw, he just dug himself a deeper hole. Shame
