Uh....it doesn't say in the Bible that money is the root of all evil....it says....in First Timothy chapter 6 verse 10...."for the LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

I've made the same mistake in thinking it said money is the root of all evil and was corrected...so I thought I would just pass it on to you....and also...I don't mind paying my tithes to my church because God blessed me with it anyway. But I do mind giving it to something that seems fishy so I check out places and people before I just donate my hard earned bucks. Have a good day.

Oh, didn't you hear? They changed that verse a long time ago. It now reads, "The lack of money is the root of all evil". I went to a certain church many, many years ago, and after they took up the first offering, they went back behind the altar, counted it, and came back out and said it wasn't enough. Then, they sent the ushers to the well once more, but alot of it dried up as many people got up and left. Several months later the pastor was indicted for embezzlement and fraud directly related to his own church's finances. He went to prison for about two-three years. I know this is only one case that I personally witnessed, but I was young enough at the time that it really turned me off to know that there were people in the congregation who were poor and destitute, and here the pastor's concerned with building a $500,000.00 home for his wife who, for some reason or other, looked just like Tammy Faye Baker. I never went to that church again.

The bible doesn't say that money is the root of all evil.
It says the LOVE of money. And I believe that is the God's truth. So much evil is done because of that lust for money!
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Actually, it is not MONEY which is supposed to be the "root of all evil" but THE LOVE OF MONEY.
"Religions" are not corporeal entities which can be "keen" or which can "get their hands on" something. Do you mean, perhaps, COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS, INSTITUTIONS or CLERGY within established religions?
In fact, what exactly DO you mean by your question? Can you give an explanation or an example to support your (half-baked) assertion?

First, it is not "money is the root of all evil" it is "the 'love' of money that is the root of all evil". Let us get the facts straight before you climb on your own religious bandwagon and beat your pulpit speaking to your own audience which I don't really know who is listening to you.

right you are............religion is the root of all evil..........all major wars past and present have been brought about by religous nuts thinking that their religion is right and all others are either wrong or inferior. This is one that you religous people cannot disprove. Don't start quoting bible crap......go to the library and read up on some world history.......or simply watch cnn. Religion is the cause of war. period

The expression to which you refer is "Cupiditas radix malorum est," which means, "The love of money is the root of evil."

Money itself is just a tool. We all use it, churches included. Churches receive electric bills, telephone bills, etc. They encounter expenses arising from maintaining property.
