Some Christians do and some don't. As it is written:

Romans 14:5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

As to your assertion that Christians think that God made the environment to use up and waste, that's not a concept that is found in the Bible or taught in any main stream Christian church. The Bible teaches that God created mankind as a caretaker of the planet.

Genesis 2:15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

What most Christians do however believe is that God who knows all his works form the beginning and who exists outside of time has created this planet knowing exactly what mankind would do and that He has built in the necessary adjusting mechanisms to sustain life until He decides that it's time for this planet to be destroyed.

2 Peter 3:8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

this is one of the more foolish posts i have read...what gives you the idea that 'most Christians' don't believe in global warming or that God made the environment for us to use up and waste? i'm all for free speech, but i'm also for HONEST speech...and what you're spouting is a load of ignorance, stereotyping, and outright baloney! we Christians believe that God wants us to be stewards(caretakers0 for the earth...what you're talking about sounds suspiciously like an ann coulter rant...and she's about as far from Christianity as fred phelps and his gang of nutters...i will have you know that on the FIRST earth day, this Christian, along with a lot of my brothers and sisters were out in force, helping to clean up some of the mess that our materialistic, value-free, disposable society has made on this earth...and have continued to do so-the next time you want to rant, at least come up with something factual

I just don't understand where this misconception comes from that Christians don't believe in global warming. Do you have anything to back this statement up? It is pretty hard to ignore that global warming is happening. And as for the statement that Christians think the world is perfect as God made it, well, it is no longer as God made it because man is destroying it!!!!

OK, hold up a second! Just because someone is Christian does not mean they don't respect the sciences and understand the evolutionary processes at work. That's a very stereotyped image you have of Christians, and just because most of those you have met might be like that, doesn't mean most Christians are.
Besides which, why ask that question? Why not ask "What do the rest of us have to do to take up the slack from those who don't participate in Earth Day?"
Ask not what your planet can do for you (or what others aren't doing for that matter) but what you can do for your planet.

Can't speak for all Christians, but we try to do our part to celebrate Earth day all year long. We planted 200 trees this year in our yard. and have about 300 total. Alot of my fellow Christians have a very deep and profound respect for all the wonder of earth and nature that God gave us to enjoy and care for.

You know even less about Christians that you do science.

I live in Michigan, which they say several thousand years ago was under a mile of ice. Did it melt on it's own? Of course not. Global warming and cooling (known as ice ages) are something this planet does. Why are we suddenly surprised by it? Did science think those ice ages ended by magic?

I'm comforted by the thought of you knowing how most Christians think.

I usually celebrate by mowing all day. The 2-stroke doesn't smoke much. Then I spray copious amounts of pesticide all over the place while enjoying a cold one out of a Styrofoam cup.

Get real.

Where do you get the notion that Christians don't believe in global warming?
We do but this point is not up to Christians only.

at the start, every day is earth day for the Christian. all of us have been given the duty of finding after it, looking after it, etc. So it is not for the different man or woman to come returned up with some holiday and speak to it earth day and then self-righteously waiting for some to stick to it.
