Specifically I am wondering why all those Amish went to the funeral of the killer that went into the school and killed those kids. What bible passage is that?

Here are a few:Matthew 7:1; Matt 6:12;

But, esp. Luke 6:37 ...forgive and ye shall be forgiven.

Forgiveness is as much for ourselves(if not more) as it is for the person we forgive. Forgiveness doesn't mean we ignore evil acts--it means we forgive them.

What good would it have done for all those Amish to hate that man? He's dead! It would have only hurt them. I respect them so much for what they did.

I don't know any specific Bible passages, but a couple come to mind that might be appropriate:
Judge not lest ye be judged
Turn the other cheek
Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone
To err is human, to forgive divine.

There are many such "passages" in the Gospel, and the letters of the Apostles. Nothing in the Jewish or OT section - just the opposite, eye for an eye, etc. They went to his funeral because he was afflicted with a mental disease, and so they forgave him and prayed for his soul over his remains. I admire them for it.
As for quoting,my denomination avoids "chapter 'n verse" nonsense, lest we not see the forest for the trees. But any fundamentalist could give you a list of passages. God bless.

I hope these scriptures help uplife you and draw you closer to the Lord and have confidence that he will always be with you. Psalm 27 - Please read the whole chapter. Psalm 56:3 & 4 When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I willl not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Proverbs 3:24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Jeremiah 1:8 "Do not be afraid of tehm, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the Lord. Matthew 8:26-27 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was conpletely calm. The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the wnds and the waves obey him!" Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 32 "Whoever acknowleges me befor men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:30 & 31 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Mark 5:36 Ignorng what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe." John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" 1 John 4:7 Dear friends let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. An we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. Blessings

Hi Mom,
Christ said that we are to "love our neighbor as ourself". This would be in keeping with praying for those who sin against others. We are also told to "turn the other cheek". This would also be in keeping with that. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Romans 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." 20 To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.
