Sometimes units at training posts get deployed. It depends on the mission that is needed over there. However, Fort Irwin is the site where most of the brigades going to Iraq are getting trained. There biggest mission right now is to get the Soldiers ready to go forward. I would say that your chances of getting deployed are alot slimmer at Fort Irwin than at other Garrison posts. However, there is always a possibility. Good Luck from a former Commo SGT

Yes, you can still get deployed.

Your chances of getting deployed vary widely, though - O/Cs working the ranges and training facilities at Irwin are less likely to get deployed, for example. So it depends not just on the post, but also your unit and your job.
