Well, while it is true that the US has its share or problems with violence, it is not a large portion of American society that perpetrates these problems. It is a small minority. That being said, we are a little idealistic concerning the use of guns. The argument to keep them is obvious - For self-protection. The idea of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution was put in there in order to protect society from the government. The forefathers of the American people thought that it would be better to place arms in the hands of society in order to keep the government in check than to allow the government to run all over its people. The argument today is - Do we still need the protection from the government? I don't know. I would argue - YES, however.

It's just you and some sick, obsessed ,freak that give guns a bad name! The gun happy morons that ruin the good reasons for the right to bear arms probably never owned a gun before they went and had a shootout with one! Most gun owners know and respect guns, but the ones that don't own guns are the ones to be scared of when they get them!

Guns in the hands of law abiding are good. Killers don't care about gun laws. What about obsession with cars, swimming pools and doctors? Surely, there is something that can be done there to save lives!
