it's the only way I do it. I let it air dry until it's just damp though. Then I use a round brush and my hair dryer. Once it's all dry I usually use a iron to curl just the ends under, but the heat helps straighten it all out. (A flat iron would probably work MARVELOUS, but I'm a mother of 4 and really don't have the extra money for a flat iron I may have time to use 4 times a month.)
It's ok to do if it works for you. Different people, different hair, different approaches. I had a friend with curly hair that had to have a straight iron along with a couple different styling proucts. My hair is just wavy, and a hair dryer will do it. I don't use any extra goo or spray.
But if it's just hair health you're worried about, yep, it's ok.

NOT WHEN IT'S COMPLETELY WET IT'S BETTER TO DO IT WHEN HAIR IS JUST SLIGHTLY DAMP NOT COMPLETELY WET. AND ALSO USE A SERUM TO PROTECT HAIR FROM HEAT AND MAKE IT SHINY AND SILKY THIS IS WHAT I USE http://cgarcia1.qbeautyzone.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=103272
Brilliant Hair Polish fights frizz and ends restless rough ends. This brilliant polish gives hair soft shine while sealing your strands with a fabulous finish.

do not do that!! The hair being wet will not straighten as well, therefore you will need to use more heat later (when it is dry) to fix your mistakes, which will without a doubt fry your hair

no, because you could electricute yourself, and/or burn your hair.
dry it as best as you can, THEN straighten.
this is why people don't use hair dryers in the tub. lol. ^___^
