Ever since I was akid playing with toy boats in the bath tub, I've love battleships! I know they went out when the aircraft carrier age started in WWII, but I just think they're so cool! What do you guys think?

I have to admit to liking battleships. To me, they are kind of like the knights of the middle ages or the centurions of Rome. They are obsolete and brutal, but there is something about them that I appreciate compared to today's impersonal battle techniques. The masculine warrior that I suppress inside in favor of learning and ethics gets pretty excited when I think of them willingly battling one-on-one like a mighty, watery joust. Today, you just push a button and a thousand innocent people die. Kind of sucks. I'm generalizing to be sure, but things were better when the warriors fought one another, and the rest of us just did our homework.

Yes! We have a lot of retired battleships here in the bay area near Benicia! I love driving by and looking at them!
I remember being young and playing with them in the tub and I watch my son do the same nowadays!
I guess I was kinda a tom boy. But I really admired my grandfather who was a Lt. Commander in the NAVY in WWII and had always tried to imagine what his life was like on them.
I would try to stave off attacks on my ships...getting me into trouble with mom for splashing water every where!
Now...yup...I get upset when I see all of the water on the floor and flung far to the wall when my son is bathing...but then I take a closer look and I realize that I am jealous! haha!
Ahhh to be a kid again!

I had the honor to be a member of an inspection team on the USS Missouri. It was pretty cool to see the spot where the greatest war ever had ended. They still had their place in many battles until they were decommissioned about 15 years ago.

I am completely with you on this one. What an intimidating ship. I mean, park six of these off the coast of a soon to be invaded country and I'd be afraid. But now, little missle ships can do the work of a Mighty Mo. It is disappointing.

They were pretty neat, and fun to walk around on/in on a tour.
