i slept with this girl like about 5 years ago and we were like boyfriend/girlfriend for like 1 month but then i dumped her. I told her that i wanted to concentrate on my career. We have only had email contact over the years and now she is scaring me - calling my house saying she will commit suicide if i dont get back with her. She knows where i live, im worried she will harm me or my family. She says that i led her on by saying that i will get back with her after all this time. I didnt want to hurt her by saying its over i thought that she would get the message if i stopped ringing her. I have never been bad to her.

Firstly stop all communication with this person as she has issues and needs a lot of help to overcome her issues. Secondly if she starts making threats as she is go to the police for further assistance.
You have done the right thing and she is not over the situation and she will never get over it

Change your phone number. If she shows up at your house then get a "restraining order" against her. Change your email address or at least block her emails to you.
Guys have this thing that if they stop calling a girl this is a way of saying its over. BUT then they still write emails back and forth keeping the door open. IF you guys want to end a relationship, then be strong and end it so as there are no dangling ends out there.

i dont mean to sound insensitive but i would suggest (only if you agree) calling her bluff. and if its like i think that should helpi was in the same situation with a CRAZY girl and she pulled that so i said "that isnt really necessary but whatever you want to do i guess i cant stop you just know there will be no me and you" and it worked. the suicide threats are the adult equivalent of a 3 year olds temper tantrum to get what the want, your attention, so believing what she is saying and trying to be extra careful and nice is wxactly what she expects to accomplish so dont fall for it or the situation will worsen. AGAIN I DONT KNOW THIS GIRL SO DONT RELY SOLELY ON WHAT I SAY. you must use your own judgement but as i said this souinds the same as what i went through and that worked like a charm.

Take a voice-mail, e-mail, any evidence you've got and go to the police so they can have her held for psychiatric evaluation. This will either get her the help she needs, or, if she's faking, this will definitely get her over you.
And you might want a restraining order, immediately.
Whatever happens, remember - YOU made this bed, you shouldn't have led her on. I feel bad for you, because a clean break is the hardest thing a man ever has to do.

Yes be careful Bro, Although this is partly your fault for telling her what she wanted to hear,She needs to let go...Simply ask her this "why would you want to be with someone who has no desire to be with you?" then tell her she deserves better and that when she truly finds the right person she will look back on this experience and wonder what the hell she was thinking.Careful though if it goes too far do call the police.

If you seriously think she will hurt your family, she is probably kind of crazy. Mental. Unless she really is mental, she won't actually commit suicide or harm your family. Unfortunately, if she is absolutely serious, you might have to move and/or go to court to get her to stay AWAY.

Girl needs to be committed. It sounds like she is a danger to herself and possibly others if not hospitalized. I'd seriously consider talking to someone in the mental health profession and seeing what they think.

Tell her that you think that she is a great girl but you feel that you two are better off as friends. You can also try and fix her up with somebody....if you have a friend that is willing to date the crazy.....if that doesnt work, you might have to have her commited or something....lol!!

Oh boy, thats bad. When someone threatens to hurt themselves out of 'love', that is INSTANTLY a red flag saying they are NOT in love with you. Get her some help, but other than that...she doesnt love you.
