I'm your girl!!

I love face to face confession! I'm so glad we get that now in Roman Catholicism.

Don't worry about trying to remember everything right off the bat. Even if you go and confess one or two little things, just to get "into the swing of things" - that's of great benefit.

When I first returned to the church (I was a wayward child) I got lucky. I stumbled into a retreat and there was a wonderful priest who seemed more pained that I was over my sins! And there were a LOT! For me, It had been 20 years and I'd broken every commandment except adultary because I was never married.

I literally threw myself on God's mercy and just spilled my guts. I began to cry to the point of sobs and being unable to breathe.

It was easier to bear because I could see the grief on this poor priest's face. He was truely Christ like in feeling my pain.

After that, I journaled. I got a small booklet on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and followed it point by point to see what I may have left out.

I wrote about my own sins. And then went back to confession to catch up on what I'd missed. Even today I remember things out of the blue that I have to go and confess.

Spend some time in prayer before hand. As for guidance from Jesus. From the Holy Spirit. Your Guardian Angel has been with you all along and knows all your secrets. They will help you along.

There is absolutly nothing you can confess that he has not heard before - whatever is on your mind, it is not a big deal for him to hear it, but a part of your healing to say it.

Tell him how you feel prior to the confession and he will help you out.

Don't you go into confessional booths like Roman Catholics? If so, why worry you aren't face to face.
