There are things that happen in our daily lives that we sometimes pay no thought to, while others see these things as strong signs. One very important example of this is when we accidentally drop food on the floor or ground. When this happens it often means that the spirits are hungry, that those who have died want our help. This is especially true if it continues to happen in your home or to you over and over again.
The reasons that spirits pick certain people are more numerous than can be explained. They might be a passed relative or friend of yours. You might be someone that has a gift of stronger-than-normal communication with spirits. There could also be a spirit you are unfamiliar with, but lingers around you or in your area. Fear is normal, but not necessary.
When we are unsure of these types of things, we are fortunate that we have in our own community people that have a gift of "sight," whom we refer to as See-ers. It is always a good idea to go talk with one of them or at least talk to someone that has knowledge in these areas. Traditionally you would take a small bundle of Oionkwa'onwe (sacred tobacco), about a handful, to the person you would like to talk with. Of course, any type of gift would be appreciated, especially if they do more to help you.
Sometimes, a dead feast is needed at someone's home. This ceremony is traditionally always done on the tenth day after someone's death, and once more a year later. Many people pass on without this having been done for them, and so their spirit remains here until the ceremony is done. Any ceremony or action taken should always be led by a well known, and trusted knowlegeable person.
When no action is taken, spirits may continue to make things happen, like more food being dropped. However, spirits are capable of anything...anything. They might move objects in your home, or make noise that you cannot explain away. They might come into your dreams or even show themselves while you are awake. If they do not get what they are seeking, then they will do more and more. They can even make a person physically sick.
Everyday we can do a little to respect the spirits around us. Nighttime is for the spirits. We are told not to sweep floors or vacuum at night, or clean, as this disturbs the roaming spirits. It is offensive to them, like brushing them away. If there is a mess that cannot be ignored, of course you can clean it up, just go slow with respect. Also at night, put food away, even scraps from dinner plates. Food left out at night is a traditional way to feed a spirit, but only as part of actual ceremony. If food is left out anytime, this could invite spirits into your home, which is not good for us, or them, if we have done this accidentally. Ever wonder why when you stay up real late, even if you are just sitting around and have already eaten, you get hungry? We also feed spirits through our own bodies. The spirits can use us since we are active during their time.
Spirits are a very real part of our world and daily lives. When we accept that spirits are real and we learn more to understand how they live with us, fear moves from us, and all we need do is just take the appropriate action. Keep in mind; often a spirit is trying to tell us something that will help us in our lives. They may want to warn us of something or give us a gift of some kind of knowledge.

It sounds like you have your answer - that the best thing to do would be to stop thinking about the missing person's cases. When it starts affecting your dreams and causes you to worry that you may be spending too much time on it, or gives you fear that you are inviting spirits into your home, that is a sign I think (speaking from personal experience) that you should leave this stuff aside until your mind is clear again. It is important not to let fear get the better of you. If you turn your thoughts away from these things, I think you will find the fear will go away too. If you pray, pray about this situation. You can pray for people who are missing without involving yourself so much in the details.

If you really want spirits at home, which I would never do this but one sure fire way is to go to a cemetary or old abandoned building,(hospital, senior citezens home, ect) preferably. Use a ouija board to contact them. When you do invite them to follow you home. Ahhhh, but then how do you get rid of them? Or you could come to my house. I certainly have enough things going bump in the night.
You could very well do this at home. Invite some daring friends over and record the activity during this session. Be careful in closing to let the spirits know they are not of this world and to leave and go back to where they came from. Also make sure you burn white candles.

I usually go to the cemetery at night with a butterfly catcher and swing it around, after several times of doing that, i empty it in a burlap bag and bring it home place it in the refrigerator for few hours until all spirits freeze and become immobilized then i choose which ones to keep.
I usually keep the female spirits, they are more docile

OH that's SSOOO easy!!!
SO E-Z...just invite them in.
Bring in some pagan statues, (my mom did).
Fall down to ur knees and do obeisance to them.
Satan the god of this system of things will hear u, and do just as u ask, or as he pleases..whichever hurts u the most, will be the one Satan will do.
Trust me, he will bring his demons w/ him to reside in ur heart. I know u said home..heart same difference to Satan, he does Not care about U.
I knew this waayyy b-4 I turned
my attention to the one true God, Jehovah.
p.s. u could always use an ouija board game, the demons seem 2 like that 1;and u say u know how to handle entities, really?and if u could do that u'd b Jesus. They obeyed him.
Ha! what a laff, if ya could do that, then WHY oh why r u asking 4 assistance?
Also, sounds 2 me like u already have 'em.

Why ask? You know how to "handle entities" so you should be able to get them to your house.
If you don't have them yet, you will have. Just keep doing what your doing.
Although they won't be the spirits you are thinking about.

Not sure why they have to be in your home but whatever. Use any divination tool improperly like a game and you'll get spirits real quick. Go to antique stores and buy items with negative or weird "vibes" to them because that usually means spirits are attached. Please be careful!!!

I know that people will disagree but there are no such thing as spirits that aren't evil ones. People think that they can bring spirits that belong to people who are now gone, back...are wrong. If you think you are talking to a ghost or "spirit" it is probably a demond posing as a spirit. Remember that the devil is the master minipulator. If you start inviting things like that into you life you are going to have a hard time shutting that door.

I send all my invitations, paranormal or otherwise, using evite. It is an Internet email based invite system that sends invitations to the people, ghosts, spirits, demons, you choose. Looks just like a regular invitation and you can choose or modify how it looks on the screen. They can read it, and respond immediately. I find it works great in this plane of existence and in others.

Maybe you have been handling the entities too roughly. Have you tried inviting them home with you while you handle them?
