I have been driving in Alberta since i was 14 with a permit. I was wondering if it would count as anything when i am getting my Texas learners driving permit.

Sorry, none of that will count for anything towards a TX license or permit unless you hold a full license from any US state or Canadian province. TX now has some of the most strict licensing laws in the US for new teen drivers. Here's a link that will explain it all to you: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/driver_licensing_control/dlindex.htm

To get a Motorcycle permit in Texas, you must be 15 years of age. With the permit, you will be allowed to operate a motorcycle (not more than a 250 cubic centimeter piston displacement) with someone in sight that is 21 years of age or older and holds a valid motorcycle license.

No, different area with different rules, but you will have some extra practice in at least.
