My little brother is going to Iraq this year. I am hoping to go visit him at the end of May. His birthday is coming up soon and I have no idea what to get him. I want to get him something he can take with him to Iraq.

i can tell you what my son wanted when he went back. This is his second tour in Iraq. He wanted a laptop to be able to email and keep up with news in the states and hand held electronic games like PSP.

wow. i'm guessing you're going to visit him on base? if you're religious, even just a little, a st. christopher medal is good. the saint of the traveler. there is also a st. medal for soldiers but i don't know the name. you could always write a note that he could keep in his pocket while he's there. something he could refer to when he needs to know that you're at home thinking of him. is there a small toy that you might still have that would remind him of you? that would be good too. whatever it is, it needs to be on the small side so he can carry it with him or at least keep with his stuff.
please tell him to be safe and come home soon. you are all in my thoughts. god bless.

Put together a care package, baby wipes (thats right they come in handy over there) lotion with sunscreen, deoderant, things like that. You could also give him a small piece of jewelery to wear with his dog tags (if religous have it blessed)

Then every month send another care package to him.

He is in my thoughts and prayers.

A small diary so he can write about what his life is like in Iraq.

Framed photos of you and your little brother and one of all of the family and one of his best friends
photos of people who really care about him and love him so he knows that they are always there with him :)
but god bless your little brother so he gets back safe and sound :)

a family photo is great. but once he is there see if you can have a family member knit a quilt with his brigade number and unit number on it with an american flag and all the family names on it it's a great gift idea and shows that you care and love him.
