Maybe he'd like some nice jewellery - there are some really modern items for men available with a cross on them - look at your local Christian bookstore or online. If he's trying to convert to be a Christian he might like a good book on how to help him read the Bible - there are some awesome ones for young people. Or some Christian music? If you don't want a religious type gift, and depending how much you want to spend, why not book a ride in a race-car at the track for him for a couple of hours - any 17 year old would love that!

a personalized bible. a catholic retreat for just him or the two of you. make a prayer book for him with prayers you wrote for him. a chastity ring is more of a gift from an elder i think. if it is from you it may feel to him like you want to get married a be eachother first. that could freak him out.

Give him a comparative bible. For example:
The Comparative Study Bible features the updated 1995 edition of the New American Standard Bible, the most recent edition of the Amplified Bible, trimmer design, and an updated cover for an attractive, contemporary appeal. Turn to the Comparative Study Bible when you want to consult:
New International Version-The world’s leading contemporary translation, renowned for its accuracy and ease of understanding, communicates the meaning of the original writers in a thought-for-thought translation.New American Standard Bible-The most widely used literal translation is the translation of choice for Bible readers who prefer a word-for-word approach. The updated NASB has been refined for a smoother read.
Amplified Bible-This unique approach expands on the basic Bible text with added synonyms, explanatory notes in parentheses, a unique system of punctuation, italics, and references unlocking subtle shades of meaning as found in the original Greek and Hebrew languages.
King James Version-Beloved by Christians for centuries, the King James Version is known for its poetic, dignified presentation of Scripture in 17th century English.

A devotional, or some kind of Bible Q&A Book. I personally recommed "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. It's very helpful if he's struggling or if he needs help witnessing and explaining Christianity to his parents.

hmmm if you are wanting to get him something related to Christianity..i would go with a promise ring..he could wear it around his necklace on a chain if he doesn't like rings..showing that he is promising to be closer to god..or always go with shoes..or an outfit..or you could get something made like pottery..there are tons of places to get things painted..and it can be for whatever you want and have whatever you want on it..its not that expensive either..orrr....see if your church does any youth group trips..invite him to go..and pay for his half..that could be a gift as well..hope i helped

Arrange a visit by Jehovah's witnesses.
That would be an experience he'll never forget.
