It basically feels like I have a cotton ball shoved down one ear - no, I don't physically feel anything fluffy. But my hearing abilities in that ear definitely feel a little muffled. And when I talk, my own voice sounds strange in my head, but I can hear most other sounds normally. And...I have a cold right now. So, is this just a cold symptom, or might I possibly have an ear infection? Thanks

The biggest sign of an ear infection is pain. Lots and lots of pain. It wouldn't be something you'd miss. Muffled hearing can be due to the cold you have right now, or you might have a build up of wax in the ear canal. most likely the cold though. If it persists after the cold is gone or pain starts go see your doctor.

I am not a doctor so do not take this as complete medical advice but Ear infection is one of the only causes of muffle hearing, and is not just a symptom of a cold. Hearing related problems, are not found with a cold, and usually something else caused by a cold.

That sounds like its just a cold symptom, if it was an ear infection it would hurt really bad, and it would feel hot inside.

Probably just something that came along with your cold. It has happened to me a few times too. Give it a few days and it should clear up. If it were an ear infection you would probably be in pain and you would really notice it.

it sounds like an ear infection,if the cotton ball feeling doesnt subside, i would suggest getting some ear drops to help it.

Sounds like your ears are plugged. You could have a infection/ pus sac on your eardrum or behing it. Is there any pain in your ear? I'd go see a doctor.
