What history class are you taking? Chrisitian history?

Those people who denied the world was round were the ones not using logic.
Because if they had looked at the evidence, like the round-worlders had, they too would have seen the truth of the Earth's shape. The fact that ship masts are visible first over the horizen, lunar shadows, etc... are all blatant indication that the view of a flat earth are wrong.

In the case of atheists, they see you as the flat-worlders, still not looking at the evidence. We have science on our side, but looking at how much a lot of Christians here know about, say, evolution (we DIDN'T come from monkeys, okay? Common ancestor!) it is enough to rile up atheists. In this case, the proof of evidence is so strong as to indicate that the Genesis-view of instant speciation is just flat out wrong.

I can't expect you to see things by the same logic as I do. Your logic seems warped to me, and I am sure my logic, based on empirical evidence, seems warped to you as well. There's not much I can do to correct that, I'm afraid. It's up to you to see things from others' points of view.

"People tend to be wrong," is true, so far as it goes. But it's an overly broad statement. Which people? Wrong about what? Says who, and how did they prove it?

Some people may be stupid, and some may be merely ignorant; some haven't learned much about the real world, and some -- a minority, I hope -- don't wish to learn. It's not helpful to generalize about people.

But it's perfectly reasonable to say (for example): "This particular article of faith is unsupported, and here's why, and those who persist in believing it in the face of evidence to the contrary are deluded or worse." I know it's unpleasant to hear this. That doesn't make it any less true.

Well, if your logic comes from the bible, then it isn't logic, now is it? We want concrete proof of god's existence, not a book. We have skeletons to support evolution.

And... Humans tend to be wrong. Maybe YOU are wrong. Maybe the whole Christan religion is wrong because it was created by HUMANS!

So ... umm what was the question?

Logically, just because Humans tend to be wrong does not lead to the conclusion that something has to be always right. This is a logical fallacy. Sorry.

Obviously you didn't pay too much attention in that class. The universe is the way it is, no matter how we percieve it. But there is no evidence for a god. Which is why we ask you to use logic. Ancient cultures knew that the Earth was round by watching lunar eclipses. They have known that for thousands of years.

i dont think they are stupid.. i think anyone who follows a book with this in it:

"Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

has issues.

You learned in history class taht people thought th eworld was flat? Nobody ever thought that.

As for the last bit "there has to be something always right or the world would fall apart " it makes no sense at all. Many things are not right or wrong, they just "are".

I don't taunt people with unkind speech and call them "stupid", but I do say use logic... if you can. If you cannot understand the logic I do then you can't, but my viewpoint is based on Buddhist logic along with observation of the sciences, philosophies, etc.

I don't say this to be arrogant, I say it because it's truth... I DO NOT expect everyone to understand what I do because it took even ME years to get here, and years ago I might not have understood this position myself. To declare it otherwise would be illogical and arrogant.

I am an atheist and I agree to what you say. But there are also some Christians who have acted rudely also.
There is not a lot of tolerance for each others ideas, religion, and philosophy, and that resorts to insults and put downs.
Stay strong and don't let them get to you.

You just made it 5 times harder for logical Christians to be accepted as logical. thanks alot.

I can't believe you used the world round argument as proof Christianity can have logic. WHERE do you take your history?

MMM perhaps you should have looked in your bible before you said you have never seen Deuteronomy 13 before.

Slinks away embarassed for all Christians
