find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

First off, losing weight too quickly can often be counter productive. This is because your body equates dieting with starvation and responds in several ways. It slows down your metabolism and burns muscle, which is responsible for most of the calories you expend each day. In this way your body conserves energy and protects its body fat reserves.

The more frequently you diet, the more quickly this starvation response kicks in and the less weight you end up losing in the long run.

Whatsmore, when you finish your weight loss program your body tries to replace the fat it's lost to guard against any future period of starvation.

The safe rate of weight loss is around 1-2 lbs a week. The more slowly you lose the weight, the less likely it is to go back on again once you go back to eating normally.

The most effective way to lose weight is a combination of diet and exercise. There are 3,500 calories in 1lb of fat so a 250 calorie reduction in food intake each day combined with 250 calories burned off through exercise (the average person burns around 100 calories per mile walking or jogging) should enable you to lose 1lb a week - doesn't sound much but that's 52lbs in a year.

As far as the diet goes, a healthy balance of nutrient dense foods works best. Lean protein, low fat dairy, wholegrains, plenty of fruit and veg - no great surprise there! 5-6 small meals a day keeps your metabolism fired up and take care to eat some protein at each meal.

Dietary protein spares muscle protein, which can be lost whilst on a weight loss program. Protein also causes the production of the hormone glucagon, your fat burning hormone. Cut down on fat and sugar and drink plenty of water - around 2 litres a day on average.

Try exercising at least 3 times a week. Say 30 minute aerobic workouts to burn body fat. If you have time, 2-3 sessions a week of weight training for around 30 minutes or more each time will help to build muscle and increase your metabolic rate.
