Geez, I don't know how fast an average cat runs. I have an Egyptian Mau and they have been clocked to speeds up to 45 miles an hour. I'm telling you he zooms through my house, reaches a spot and he takes off, airborne, and jumps as high as the top of my drapes and then hangs there looking down at you till he lets go. He's real fast. I'm curious how fast just plain ole kitties run so I'll be looking to see what kind of answers you get.

They can run in spurts of up to 30 mph, like when your cat freaks out for no reason and tears through the house, that cat is probably going a good 20-30 mph!!

Believe it or not, it's 30mph! A hell of a lot faster than most people would think!

Yep that's right, as fast as a racehorse - but only for very short bursts, that's the difference. Even cheetahs, the fastest land animal (60mph) can only manage this for a short time.

Sometimes I swear they can run about 50 or 60 MPH! LOL
