When a person questions the bible they may find answers that contradict popular Christianity. Oh no! ;) At Acts 17:10, 11 we read a favorable report on those who were becoming Christians in the ancient city of Beroea. These were considered "noble minded" since they "received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so." Recall how Jesus raised such intelligent questions at 12 years of age that he amazed the temple teachers? (Lu. 2:41-47) Questions are neccessary in order to find answers that will upbuild our faith!
Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well that his Father was looking for ones who would worship in spirit and TRUTH. (John 4:23, 24) Proverbs 2:1-5 encourages us to find the knowledge of God by digging, searching, seeking- and this involves finding out what the bible really teaches, what the origin of doctrines are, etc. Many try to explain away the inconsistencies of their beliefs by claiming "God is a mystery" when the real mystery is why they think God would be happy with their blind credulity?
You have questions? Jehovah's Witnesses have answers and can show you from a copy of your own bible. You can check out our bible-based (not pop-Christianity-based)beliefs online. :)

Well, personally, I ask HEAPS of questions when I'm studying the Bible or other scriptures.
I believe people get offended by "questions" when they base their faith in God on the assumption that the Bible is some mystical book that man has no power to alter.
People get offended when they don't know the truth in their HEARTS. They THINK they know the truth, but they're not really sure, so it really shakes their faith to have people question whether the Bible is completely true or not.
I know in my heart that God is real, and I know that he spoke in olden times to prophets, and that Jesus is truly the Son of God. I know he speaks to prophets today, too, and also speaks to people's hearts if only they will have the faith to hear that "still small voice". The Spirit tells me these things are true - so if the Bible has faults, or is hard to understand, I'll just trust in God that he will continue to unfold his mysteries to me "here a little and there a little".

It's not that they get upset about anyone questioning the Bible. I for one encourage people to do so. Where the problem begins is when some people willfully misinterpret it or try to use some alledged contradiction to support their weak as hell position that the whole thing is wrong. Hardly the case. The people who do such things commit both fallacies of composition and division sometimes almost in the same response. It get's rather amusing after a while to see just how strong one's need for daily illusion is in trying to be a "thinking person" while attempting the absurd, thus making themselves absurd and certainly not to be taken seriously. And what is with "they don't"?

People expend alot of time and energy on their religious endevors. Most people don't like it when some one tells them they are wrong, and even if proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt will still try to justify their point. When you question the bible, you are questioning more than just a book. You are questioning a framework people are baseing their lives on.
And you thought being the last kid to learn the truth about santa made you feel bad.
Unfortunatly you can teach a person to read but you can't make them think!!!

There is nothing wrong with questioning the bible, in fact we are promoted to, the more you question it, the more you learn about it. and understand what it says. God will not be upset if you ask a question, just like your parents wouldnt get upset if you asked them a question.

It depends, if you are questioning something out of wanting to learn God's word, yes that is good---for we all have questions concerning the Bible.
But if you are actually questioning God, on something that God has already said is- and that is how it is--that is when you should not question Him, like answer back at Him "that is not fair" type of thing....
Romans 9 speaks about that- as far as salvation and pre destination.

because if you question the bible you question the authority of it, question the authority of it you question your religion, question your religion adn you may find (some of the many holes) in it and leave it. the bible is designed to attract people to Chrisitaintiy, and if you turn away its jonb is not done
oh yeah, and the church will get less money since its congregation will fall; but its all about the faith. not the money (yeah right)

In 1 Thessalonians, it says says to test ALL things, not just decide that you want to dismiss God's word as an ancient fairy tale book just so that you can live your life the way you want to without taking the eternal consequences into consideration.

Because without the Bible's state of "perfection" the whole myth of Judaism and Christianity crumble away.
