If you have no restrictions on your medical you should be fine. Even if you end up failing a test again later, you can get a SODA (statement of demonstrated ability) assuming that you really can see colors. Your AME should be able to provide you with some more information on options available to you should there be a problem.

well you have to have great vision in order to be a pilot. your health has to be not perfect but in very good condition. but if you didnt realize you were color blind before this test, then i assume it is not bad enough to hold you from being a pilot. i think you should be respectful if an airline turns you down though. i would want my pilots medical condition to be perfect. i don't want something wrong with him or her to where a mistake is a greater risk than someone who is perfectly healthy. i'm sorry but you may be accepted to it, but i think if you have any type of medical condition that may end up in rendering you unable to fly the plane effectivly, repect the airline, the airplane, the passengers and crew, and yourself enough to get a new dream. dreams are dreams, they can't all be reached, and that's just the reality of things. but good luck.

I have a class 3 medical certificate, and I am just a private pilot. Part of the test is the color blind test. They show you a card with a bunch of dots of several sizes and colors, out of thatt your are supposed to see a pattern and describe it to the examiner. If you can't see tha pattern you can't pass the exam. The thing is to be sure consult the FAR's federal aviation administration rules. That would explain it. In my experience, not able to distinguish patterns in color in bad visibility would be a bad thing, not being able to find a runway or a plane coming at you. Don't take my word for it, check out the FAR's or call the FAA www.faa,gov

The medical varies in severity between different countries. My friend was a commercial pilot in Australia and couldn't get a medical in the UK. He was mildly colour blind. He eventually returned to Aus and resumed his flying career.

as long as your vision can be fixed using whatever means necessary to get it up to 20/20, you can become a pilot. If you're totally color blind, like you see everything in black and white i dont think it will be allowed, but if its only minor, youll be fine.
