Hey. My church is a traditional Christian church with music from like, 50 years ago, and me and my youth group were considering on asking if we could try to add some semi-contemporary music. So I need some names of music. Something not so much like Jesus Freak (we don't want to scare the elderly), but something we could actually sing to go towards God and getting us psyched up for God, you know? Thanks.

I'm not good with artists and title names, but go to K-Love.com and go to the artist's links. Lots of the songs I hear on k-love are songs that our choir sings at church.

I will pray for your band and congratulations on trying to add a new perspective to worship for the younger generation.

Much of Amy Grant's music from several years back would be something that I would think that they would be willing to listen to.

For the life of me - can't think of any other artists off the top of my head at the moment. But maybe this will give you something to get a feel of what they might be willing to 'allow'. (Baby steps before taking bigger steps).

Also - have you thought of looking into several of the newer praise music that is very popular? I know that were I attend, such is very much accepted by all.

Chris Tomlin has great worship songs! And Sonic Flood, and Matt Redman---if you get the "wow worship" cds, they have all good worship songs, that many churches sing in worship. There are also many praise and worship cds out there, one other good one is called "Passion" and "Above All"

Go to a Christian book store (that has a music section) and ask for assistance from the clerks. I think they will show you what you are looking for.

Have them play some Allman Brothers; they actually have some religious-themed songs.
