I'm going camping... and I have no choice but to take some very valuable equipment with me. If something should happen to that equipment (it gets stolen) will my renter's/homeowner's insurance cover it?

Also do you think it would be safer for this equipment to stay in the tent with me at night? or to be locked in the car? (it does not have an alarm) - I am staying at a state park, in a designated tent-camping area.

We are leaving tomorrow and returning Sunday.. so it will only be 2 nights. (I don't think a company would insure for just 2 days would they??) Thanks for the idea, though.

I would say if you are not using it then lock in the trunk of the car just to be safe.

Backcountry robbery is uncommon yet regrettably does ensue now and back. to ward off 4-legged animals from messing including your tent, carry all of your food and scented products out of attain of bears or use a undergo-evidence field. And most suitable to conceal your carry or field from human beings too. Your tent form of marks your spot and the large majority of human beings will go away it on my own. For all they recognize you're sound asleep interior your tent. The worst i for my section have experienced (truly the in straightforward words robbery contained in the backcountry) in over a decade of backpacking is having someone thieve the rope and carabiner I had set up for my undergo carry (the food wasn't on it yet). If i'm deep contained in the wasteland and happening a dayhike from my camp i will regularly conceal my backpack and different valuables such as my range, so if any thieves did raid my camp they would not have a accessible potential to carry all my different stuff, such as the tent and sound asleep bag.

I would take out special insurance for the trip. there are companies that specialize in this type of insurance and they are very reasonable.

Type in "camping insurance" into google and you will find a lot of sites. It will also cover you for any ,medical emergencies and this is especially good if it is needed and you are camping outside of you home country.

any thing of that much value should be in the trunk covered --just in case someone would possibly ask for -a jumper cable or you have trunk open and someone walks by your car.
I have been camping for many years--I take my laptop and "dont" show off valuables-- bad people will ask kids to ask you specific questions to throw you off - just keep valuables locked and covered,if you have to take them camping.

Truly I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know that it upset me. Not at you, but at the fact that our society has finally degraded to this low point.
A few short years ago the thought of someone stealing from a campsite never came up.
Please enjoy your vacation and hope someone can give the answer to your question.
