Considering that he bled to death, would it be an appropriate attempt at brevity to go to his funeral dressed as a clown ?

Absolutely not! Totally irrelevant.
Instead or wearing a red ribbon stick a long piece of toiletpaper in your bum and make it hang out your pants like a long tail.

As you enter, ask all friends and family to write a note on it and then when he is burried , as the coffin is going down throw it in there .

My condolences. I think he should be cremated and buried at sea with you doing the honors of flushing in the clown suit.
