It would be fine for them to be mad at the DUI cop, but they are mad at the State Trooper for enforcing the law.
Isn't that what they all are supposed to be doing?

Because they think that they are above the law.

Many cops are on an ego trip and feel that laws that apply to everybody else don't apply to them. Sort of a god complex. The state trooper probably does his job by the book and obeys the law 200%; an honest person obviously. There are cops who rape women they stop and commit robberies and do all sorts of things. Remember that they are just humans, too, even if some of them like to think they are not.

I'm struggling here. Do you think they should be happy that it happened? First of all, any officer should know better than to drive while under the influence. They see the repercussions of that kind of irresponsible behavior routinely. The second thing that comes to mind is that law enforcers who break the law suffer greater consequences. They're not too well accepted in jails and prisons and often lose their careers. Finally, breaking a law doesn't throw your peers into the best light. It's an embarrassment to everyone associated with the one who breaks the law. I still can't think of a reason for them to be anything other than mad.

I personally know of several officers/detectives that have broken the law and answered to their charges in a court of law, and one was a DUI. It is sad when anyone of any profession covers for another, it is not just a law enforcement thing. It only shows the integrity of the individual not their position, they would do it in any career that they have.
