I can understand why it would. But I really don't think it SHOULD. For one, the word "God" could apply to any gods. Not to mention that when people say "God damn", they are not asking a god to damn something. It's become a figure of speech more than anything.

I ask because I noticed that the radio censors the "god" in "god damn"(yay freedom of speech!). That personally annoys the crap out of me, and I don't really get why people are offended by it.

Please, don't give me any of that "Well the bible says..." stuff.

The bible also says not to eat pork or shellfish, selling your daughter to slavery is fine, and slaves are all well and good as long as they are taken from another country, so I don't care to hear any of that. ;)

Also, for those wondering, the reason they censor the "god" is because "damn" doesn't offend anybody. ;) It's the addition of the word "god" before it that somehow makes people angry.

If they censored damn, you'd have music with a compeltely different meaning that made no sense, too.

No, it doesn't. I know many other people don't like curse words, and because of that I rarely use them in public, but to me personally they don't mean a thing.

I think it bothers people more because if you notice when people say that word they usually are reacting to pain or anger and they scream it out! LOL! Really, think about it...So it gets my attention more because of the loud voice, more than I'm thinking Oh no,they just asked God to damn someone, ya know? My word that I get in trouble for is the old faithful word...f*c*! I know, I shouldn't say it,but it just makes me feel so much better when I get aggrevated! LOL! Everytime I let it out someone is always around to let me know ,"How bad they hate to hear that word!" Hmmmm! Wonder why they hate that word so bad? Sounds like personal problem to me! Ha!
Well thats my F'n opinion on the matter! LOL!

some people in here arent really showing a good testimony

1st were christians and to use the Lords name in vain is hurtful because he is the one and only God

2nd you said u could be referring to other gods, but there is only one God

3rd yes it is freedom of speech ,but i dont think you should use it if it offends people.

4th if it annoys you stop saying it .then other people wont bother you (right?)

i believe in the Lord sir.
he is a wonderful God
he made you and gave you every breath in your life
he gave you the ability to talk
why curse?
why say words that annoy people and soon annoy you?
i think it is wrong sir.
i hope you will get saved.
he is a wonderful God .
i guarantee you will not regret you believed in him.

Well,the Bible says....
Just kidding.Really, you have a LOT to learn about the Bible, since you said the things you did.
That "God is blocked but not 'd*mn' because 'd*amn doesn't offend anyone" statement wasn't smart thinking, either.
Anyway,it offends me in the sense that I'm a Christian and I don't swear and don't particularly like it.But I've heard it so much that I don't really bother with it.As a Christian,I guess I should be saying "Could you please not say that?" or something...But I just get so used to it.

It offends me when people use the name of Deity in a cursing situation. You are right that the word could be talking about any god, but it isn't. I actually find the second part of the phrase somewhat offensive also.

The bible has several names for God
but there is only one God
I never use the term myself but that just me.

I have to admit it does bother me when I hear other people say it. But I use the phrase sometimes and I don't offend myself at all. It's all about intent. I like to substitute "god damn" for one of my other favorite words..."fukc!" It just adds a little something special, a little extra zing!

definite, that's utilising the Lord's call in ineffective. once you assert those issues, i'm having of venture it oftentimes has no longer something to do with God or Jesus, top? it is merely an expression, definite, even nevertheless that's a disrespectful one, i think of. What if somebody reported your call each and every time they have been pissed off approximately something? extremely, once you assert it, it form of seems such as you're pissed off with Jesus or God. i'm no longer condemning you right here, yet do attempt to renounce, on your own good. i'm at that place myself, i've got had anger themes for a protracted time, and that i additionally paintings with an excellent form of human beings who swear. So it is annoying to no longer do it too, particularly once I lose my cool. yet I even have been attempting extremely no longer straight forward to renounce. I do have faith it is taking the Lord's call in ineffective, so each and every time I trap myself, I exhibit regret to the Lord and ask for his forgiveness. once I do this, it additionally serves to relax my temper.

it doesn't bother me at all. i mean if that's how you feel that how you feel. who am i to tell someone they're wrong for using that phrase? only God can judge, and i'm sure He(or She, if you prefer) you let you know if He (again, or She) is offended by using the phrase.

i never understood the censoring of it on the radio either...
