There is a "City of Falls Church", which is its own jurisdiction, and it NOT located in any county.
The immediately surrounding areas outside the city limits are also called Falls Church, but are located in Fairfax County.
The city of Falls Church is bordered by Fairfax County on the North, West, and South; and by Arlington County on the East.
If you use Mapquest, you can see the city/county lines if you zoom in enough.

Okay it's weird but there are two seperate Falls Church's in VA.
There is Falls Church City, which is an independent city and independent of Fairfax County.
Then there is Falls Church of Fairfax County, which use to be a part of Falls Church City but then was sold to Fairfax County.
Complicated, I know, but it is accurate.

Not sure what Bob is talking about... Falls Church the independent city most certainly has its own courthouse, at 300 Park Avenue.
eMteMind is essentially correct... Falls Church itself is an independent city, independent of all counties, but there are parts of Fairfax County that have "Falls Church, VA" addresses as well.

None - here's why (with help from other posters).
Falls Church, VA is {EDIT} an independent city; Hence, it has a courthouse and boundaries that are separate from those of Fairfax Co. {/EDIT}
For example, the City of Roanoke and Roanoke County, VA are two separate legal entities thanks to Roanoke City being an independent city with its own courthouse. Fairfax City and Fairfax County are also two separate legal entities.
Thanks to the poster who clarified that for me. I figured that Vienna and Falls Church were no different; Hence, Falls Church forms its own boundaries with Arlington and Fairfax Counties. Also, if an address in Fairfax Co. has a Falls Church mailing address - the post office is physically in Falls Church.
Therefore, the correct answer is that Falls Church (like the City of Roanoke or City of Fairfax or the other independent cities in VA) does not belong to any county in Virginia - neither Arlington nor Fairfax.
