not all who profess Christianity are saved. even Jesus denied knowing these "Christians". we will know a Christian by his fruits (ex. actions).

Matt 7:16
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Matt. 7:21-23
21 Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"
23 And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

BUT
do remember that your salvation is not relative to another person's salvation. you are His or you are not.

WE ALL ANSWER TO THE SAME ONE MAKER.

Okay, had to read some of the answers before I got what you were asking... far fetched ideas, but...

God is not pleased with anyone hitting another person, but I would say especially your wife (or a wife hitting her husband). If you are a Christian you should be very much aware of this. God says husbands should Love their wives as Christ Loves the Church. The Church is Christ's very own Body and He is the Head of that Body. Christ does not abuse His Body as a husband should not abuse His wife. Christ Loves His Body and treats it accordingly. Hitting someone (except if you have to defend yourself from being physically attacked) is completely against everything Christ teaches us. The social look-the-other-way of this (husbands hitting wives) instead of outrage amazes me, but thank God it is becoming less and less. No one has the "right" to hit another person. I think one reason abuse continues is because it is done almost always in private. If someone was hitting his wife (or any family member) in a public place, it would soon stop as security would probably be called and the person would be stopped and have to answer for it. So most husbands (or wives) know it is wrong because they do it in private where they won't get in trouble or be found out as an abuser.

The whole "bowing" thing... I don't think God makes a distinction (choice) for a "hitter" over a "bower"... God is definitely displeased with anyone hitting another, while bowing shows respect for God.

p.s. Women should not be "verbal" abusers either, that is not pleasing to God... she should have respect for her husband. That does not mean the husband has a "right" to hit her though if she is verbally abusive. Most of the time it is something else, outside pressures that cause people to mistreat family members at home. There are other ways to vent frustrations than coming home and abusing one another! And drinking shouldn't be it either (or having an affair). Some people exercise to let off steam, others get involved in sports, running, biking, fishing, hunting, gardening... you can release that pressure in constructive ways. Many have "learned" to release frustrations on others from an abusive childhood or seeing others be abusive in their family, but that can be unlearned and those frustrations released in a positive way. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Honestly, I don't think you can call someone who hits his wife a Christian. That sort of "Christian" is the natural product of a selfish western church which has abdicated its responsibility to "make disciples." The pastor is expected to do it all. In fact, it the result of a negative feedback loop. Pastors preach sermons, and Christians listen to them. After a while, it begins to look like the responsiblility of the Christian is just to believe the right stuff. Mere mental assent does not a Christian make; however, isn't that what a lot of pastors preach? "Just believe in Jesus..." Furthermore, what is expected of a convert? To drop a few bucks in the offering plate, sing when people sing, pray when people pray, stand, sit, kneel, and invite folks to the building?

That kind of thing makes Christ want to vomit! Frankly, it makes me more than a little bit angry, and though I am no atheist, I can certainly understand their rejection of the modern pseudo church - IT'S REVOLTING!

What you read of in the New Testament church bears little or no resemblance to the assemblage of half converts which makes up the majority of the organized church - it's rather like trying to ride a dead horse: you can beat it, lecture it, pray for it, take classes on how to ride it, study folks who know how to ride, but in the end IT'S STILL A DEAD HORSE!

How I wish I could meet some of you atheists in person! Your rejection of God is, for the most part, honest! While I am sure we would not see eye to eye on either the existence of God or the veracity of the Bible, we are at least both honest. What fills the pews of many churches are professing Christians who are in reality PRACTICING ATHEISTS! I AM SO FRUSTRATED BY THE FAKERY OF MODERN CHURCHIANITY I COULD SCREAM!!!!

There - I feel better now. Do not suppose that because I reject the American version of church that I reject the Gospel or church as a whole, far from it! I believe in meeting as the early disciples did, in the privacy of my own home with friends I hold dear, loving and caring for one another.

Hope you don't mind my venting.

When I asked a Christian activist about domestic abuse, whether wives were compelled to submit to their husbands no matter what, she explained that a husband ONLY has such authority as the "head" of the family when he is following Christ and is one with God's will, in taking full responsibility.

By the nature of abuse, disrespect, hatred and anger that motivates violence, such person has no authority to act in the spirit of "murder" and certainly has no dominion over anyone else. That is abuse of authority based on selfishness and fear, contrary to the spirit of the laws based on faith and love.

As for bowing, the Bible clearly instructs not to make idols or graven images. If we bow to show respect that is fine, but it is more important how we treat our neighbors, and if we act and speak with love and charity. In that way, we bow to God's love, will and purpose embodied in all humanity.

P.S. the correct way to rebuke a fellow Christian, even an elder, who has abused or violated Scriptural authority is to follow Matthew 18:15-20, where you seek to resolve the grievance and restore the relationship, first directly in private then taking 2-3 witnesses or taking it before the church if necessary. see also James 5:16 on confessing faults for the purpose of healing. so there is much responsibility that comes with Christian faith; it is not just blindly following but really taking the laws to heart, by conscience, and helping one another to stay in the right spirit to prevent or correct abuse whenever human nature or free will gets corrupted.

God won't take them over you though I don't think. Funny, though, I had a sister that passed away sometime ago. Wonder if she got extra points on the way to heaven. Her husband hit her a few times and about the third time he was going to she knocked his butt right out with one punch. He never threatened her again. And surely your assumption that there is a God is correct. But he is not the "Christian God" but the same God of Jews, Muslims, Christians, etc

First of all, you have met a few who call themselves Christians and they also according to you, hit their wife.

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. A Christian strives to walk closer and closer to God every day of their time here on earth.

Striking someone you are supposed to Love, including your wife, neighbor and children is never allowed. The wife in question would need to stop allowing the abuse by leaving the husband (not divorce). Once out of the situation, she would no longer be enabling this man to continue in his unrepentant heart of sin and disobedience to Gods will and way.

Your question is abit disjointed. Christian men should not be hitting their wives. We are commanded to love our wives as we love ouselves. No one abuses himself willingly and loves his own body.

As for objecting to bowing, I don't know what you are refering to. Do you know men that hit their wives for not bowing in worship? If so this is not a CHristian practice.

God exists, and He wants you to know a few things.

We are all sinners. That we can in no way measure up to Gods standards in our own condition as sinners. Nothing we can ever do will ever pay the price needed to get close to a Holy God.

God, wants to be with us, so He came to earth in the form of a man, His son Jesus Christ, to be a willing sacrifice for all the sins of all mankind.

I you beieve that Jesus is Gods Son, and the He died for you, for the remission of your sins, you can have eternal life today. This is the Gospel that Jesus plus you, and nothing you can ever do, equals eternal life with God the Father forever.

See John Cahpter 3. I hope I understand your question and gave you something to think about. I encourage you to seek out a evangelical church in you area and "seek 1st the Kingdom of God".

Blessings in Christ

Any christian who interprets some type of permission from god to harm others has missed the point entirely.

I think you're safe.
